A lot of name-calling on this year's Sooners

The identity, shall we say, of this year's Oklahoma Sooners is starting to come into focus.

Ronnell Lewis, OU's linebacker/defensive end/marauder, is known as "The Hammer." Defensive tackle Adrian Taylor is "Hammerheaad." Well, Taylor was "Hammerhead" when Gerald McCoy was still around to call him that. Don't know if anyone on this year's team can get away with it.

Aaron Colvin, the freshman cornerback from Owasso, is known as "Slick." Which is a lot better than being known as "Sloth." That's what right tackle Eric Mensik calls 330-pound right guard Tyler Evans. Apparently, Mensik got the idea from watching "The Goonies."

Maybe Evans will start calling Mensik "Chunk."

Quarterback Landry Jones, to my knowledge, doesn't have a nickname yet. It's only a matter of time, though, after what Andy Staples of SI.com called him this week: "A laid-back dude from Artesia, N.M., who sounds like he should be recommending Death Cab for Cutie imports at an indie record store."

For the fans, Landry is known simply as 'The Stache'

Yeah, what Tjpr8r said... How could you forget Landry's famous nickname 'The Stache'!?!

There was a whole section of guys who wore fake staches and had "FEAR THE STACHE" t-shirts... Sadly, that was one of the "positive" takeaways from early on last year.
