A nice guy that finished first

Before we turn our attention to North Texas and the future of Sam Bradford as Oklahoma's starting quarterback, there is one more tidbit about OU's backup quarterbacks that needs to be mentioned.
Like most folks who meet Bradford, Keith Nichol and Joey Halzle really like him.
"He thinks the world of Sam, by the way," Halzle's father, Jay, said of his son after it was announced this week that Bradford won the job. "Believe it or not, he actually told me – as disappointed as he was – he's really happy for Sam, because he knows Sam wanted it, too. That sucker actually told me that. On one hand I was as proud as I could be as a father, but on the other hand I thought, what, are you an idiot? You know? He's a much better quality person than I can claim myself. He's a good boy."
Nichol feels the same way.
"That kind of situation like that, after having worked as hard as he did for as many years as he has, it's not your best day," Gary Nichol said of his son. "But I can tell you he's very happy and proud of and for Sam and very happy for the Bradford family. We, his mother, I and his brother, we're same way, very happy for Sam and the Bradford family."
Who says nice guys finish last?
