Tiger Woods, whose father, Earl, was a huge influence on his life, became a dad one day after Father's Day.
Woods' wife, Elin, gave birth to a baby girl Monday.
Woods gave no indication that the wee one was coming so soon while competing Sunday in the final round of the U.S. Open, but perhaps he had something on his mind other than trying to play catch-up to Angel Cabrera.
Before the final round, Woods walked out of the clubhouse and passed inches in front of me. He had his way-serious game face on and I would have bet about anything that he was going to give Oakmont and the U.S. Open field a last-day beating.
Woods didn't become the U.S. Open champ, but he won a bigger title -- "dad" -- the next day.
