A "trap" or a convincing victory?
Published: 9/13/2007 11:19 AM

OSU plays at Troy on Friday. It has been labeled a "trap game" for the Cowboys. Here's what it really should be: A convincing victory for OSU.

The Cowboy players were recruited to compete in the Big 12. Troy's players were recruited to play in the Sun Belt.

If the Cowboys really are what so many fans and media projected them to be in 2007, then they'll go to Troy and win 37-20. But if OSU's offense sputters and its defenders make mistakes in coverage and tackling, Troy could prevail in a 27-23 type of game.

I agree on all the points except for that this is a trap game. As poorly as we have been on the road no game should be taken for granted or looked at as a trap game. This one certainly shouldn't be. This is their biggest game of the year and I will be happy getting out of there with a one point win. I expect it to be competitive and close.

On the "disdain for the media" issue, maybe they are taking a cue from Stoops? He is flat-out hostile to the media, and yet the OKC electronic media hacks just take it with a "thank you sir, may I have another?" look on their collective faces.

Gundy may be getting irritated with the same question (Reid vs. Robinson) asked 50 different ways, but I don't think he's at Stoops' pitch yet, in terms of media disdain.

Bill, I agree with your analysis. One thing I have read on Trojan fan forums is that many of the Troy recruits are BCS caliber players who did not academically qualify for SEC schools. Just something to think about.

After watching the game in person saturday bobby has got to look down field more or get off of it! 3 times at least he had recievers if not wide open they had enough room for very nice gains all he wanted to do was to tuck and run he not vince young,I will agree with you bill that who ever is slinging the ball they better look for pettigrew!!!!! i was livid last saturday when they wernt throwing to him more.poor coaching or play calling when i can see whats going on and the coaches cant. i have never played a down of football in my life but i know if they would have thrown the ball more in the first half the score should have been 35-0 at the half! there gonna have to open the game up!
