Again, OSU surpasses 40,000 in season-ticket sales

Before 2009, Oklahoma State never reached the 40,000 mark in football season-ticket sales.

Now, it has happened twice.

As of Friday morning, a university spokesman reported, this year's overall total was 40,714. Last year, OSU set school records for average attendance (53,719), season-ticket sales (45,694) and student season-ticket sales (11,382).

The 2010 season opens on Saturday, when the Cowboys meet Washington State at Boone Pickens Stadium (6 p.m., Fox Sports Net).

OSU officials expect a crowd of about 50,000. For each of last season’s eight home games, the attendance figure was at least 50,000.

OSU has seven home games this year and will continue its season-ticket sales campaign after the start of the season. In 2008, 2,886 season tickets were sold after the season began.

For the third consecutive season, OSU has designated one home game as its “premium game.” This season’s premium date is the Nov. 27 Bedlam clash with Oklahoma. For OSU fans, admission is limited to those who have purchased a season ticket. An allotment of 5,000 Bedlam tickets is given to OU. At $125, it reportedly is the most expensive single-game ticket in college football.
