Am I crazy, or is this OU's first football-playing ghost?

With Sam Bradford honored tonight at the Davey O'Brien Award dinner, seems a decent time to talk Oklahoma quarterbacks. Or, maybe, to ask a question about a former Oklahoma quarterback.
Ever hear of Luke Wells?
He's the new wide receivers coach at Iowa State, Cyclones boss Paul Rhoads having hired him away from Louisiana-Monroe. He's also, according to the ISU press release, a former Sooner signal-caller.
"He played at Oklahoma and knows what it takes to win in the Big 12 Conference," Rhoads said.
Really? He played at Oklahoma?
I checked the latest OU football media guide, and the only Wells listed among the Sooners' all-time letterwinners is Ben from 1958.
Next stop, Louisiana-Monroe's official Web site...
"Wells played quarterback at OU from 1997-99."
1997-99. Hmm. Josh Heupel, I remember. Nate Hybl and Jason White were just arriving. Let's see, the Blake years... Justin Fuente, Eric Moore, Patrick Fletcher. Brandon Daniels was in there somewhere. Jake Sills. I vaguely recall some hotshot named Jarrod Reese.
But Luke Wells? For real?
Is it possible for a guy to play quarterback at a program with OU's profile FOR THREE YEARS and do so completely underground? Forget Red Grange, have we discovered the true "Galloping Ghost?"
Or is it time for me to come to grips with my age and keep these memory defects to myself from now on?
