Ask Reynolds and Clapp: OU's win streak is huge
Published: 11/22/2009 6:38 AM

It's not quite dawn at the Lubbock airport and we're starting to think seriously about Oklahoma's 29-game home winning streak coming to an end next Saturday.

The streak is the longest in the nation. It's also the longest in school history. As someone who has closely covered the Sooners' last 79 games, it seems almost unthinkable they could lose at home.

But I believe in synergy.

I was dreadfully wrong about the synergy of OU winning every year following the Texas A&M game. The Sooners are now 9-2 under Bob Stoops in games played after A&M. Both losses were at Lubbock. Weird.

Anyway, this group of fifth-year seniors were first-year freshmen the last time OU lost a home game. That was TCU in 2005.

Only two current players, linebacker Ryan Reynolds and fullback Matt Clapp, played in that game. I'll be interested to get their thoughts this week as their careers close with the potential of ending things just like they began: with a loss at home.

If Zac Robinson plays for Oklahoma State, the Cowboys have a better than 50-50 shot (although it was clear by the middle of the second quarter against Colorado that Brandon Weeden was a better second choice and, with his big arm and game-time moxie, might be capable of beating OU).

Expect Oklahoma's defense to be back on task against O-State. To a man, each player I spoke to after the Texas Tech game expressed a burning desire to keep that streak alive and beat the Cowboys.

I expect OU to win. Just not as much as I expected them to win yesterday.

I don't know the answer to this question. When was the last time OU won in Lubbock?

That would be 2003. We won 56-25 in Lubbock.

OSU has a much better than a 50-50 chance this week with or without the Zackster.

The big card next week will OSU Ag-Out?.

Will an onside kick bounce off the facemask of the return team back into the arms of a lineman? Who Knows.

It will be fun as an OU Fan this week to watch them loose.

Why? the off season will be GREAT!.

After all the trash talking by OSU fans for coming in 2nd (in the south division) and for having a better record than OU, I can't wait for the norm to return to the blogs. When they lose to this beat up, poorly coached, and awful OU team (as many OSU fans are claiming) what will they say then? I am sure we will hear how they still have a better record. I can't wait for Saturday to get here.
