BYU has TU's Full Attention
Published: 9/10/2007 5:09 PM

Tulsa coach Todd Graham was asked at his weekly press conference by a radio talking head if the Golden Hurricane might be looking ahead to next week's game against Oklahoma.
Graham look puzzled by the question. Other media folks seemed just as amazed by the question.
How anyone might think TU would look past Brigham Young to OU is almost unthinkable.
The last time I checked, BYU has won 11 of its last 12 and the only loss was on the road to UCLA in a game that was up for grabs in the fourth quarter.
In its two previous games, BYU pounded Oregon (by 30 points in the Las Vegas Bowl) and beat up Arizona in the season opener.
Looking past BYU? Are you kidding?
No one at Tulsa is looking past BYU. That much is obvious.
Yes, there's not a person involved with TU football that doesn't know who plays at Chapman Stadium next week.
But in the big picture, the BYU game is just as important as the OU game. It might be more important as some may view it as a more winnable opportunity.
These are both games that could do wonders for TU, always yearning for national attention.
BYU is a big game. Even if some local media consider it nothing more than a warm-up.

The talking head probably resided in 'hackville radio' otherwise known as Oklahoma City. Give me a break, no team can overlook BYU. What a stupid assertion....

And, lest we forget. I think I recall that last year the score was 49-10 going midway thru the fourth quarter. Two late scores (we all know what goes on in the field of play when one team has a nearly 40 point lead)made the score respectable. Tulsa is a great program and will have all they can handle, plus some, when the Cougars come to town. Last year Tulsa caught BYU coming off a last second loss.. In 07 UCLA scored with 1:03 or so left in the game to put the game away. I think TU would have had a better chance had BYU blown out UCLA with a score indicative of the stats. Sorry TU.

Sorry, OGMSON, your condolences were slightly misplaced that time.

It should be obvious to even you, that TU does not look past any opponent. You also seem to enjoy comparing apples to oranges.

This is decidedly no last year's TU football team, on either side of the line. While the defense gave up far too much to BYU, it still made the plays when the chips were down. Last year's team did not.

Offensively, there is simply no comparison. Charlie Stubbs preferred a no-chances, controlled offense, while Gus Malzahn demonstrates belief in his quarterback and receivers to make plays. And, they fulfill that trust.

How many points are you going to give me, since your beloved Sooners are going to destroy TU so badly?
