Bad Hire for Ark Hoops?

Probably.

Anderson was 1-9 versus Kansas while at Mo., and he's the answer at Arkansas?

The press until you drop style of play is good at home, rotten on the road. And it negates big men, you wind up with a bunch of midgets racing around and getting drunked on.

This year's Missouri team was pretty awful.

True, he got to the final eight a couple of years ago. So did the OU-ex.
So does everybody, once in a while.

The hoop tourney is back tonight: Here's a pick. Everybody loves San Diego State over Uconn.

So we'll take the easterners over the westerners.

C'mon man! That's weak. But as long as we're comparing different teams, different years, different coaches, different leagues, etc., let's compare one more: Hog Ball vs. Hawk Ball. Since Mike hasn't yet coached at Arkansas (except breifly when Nolan left), and although you've already written him off (anything in this paper to make Arkansas look bad), let's compare the Nolan/Mike style of play and how it has fared against Mizzou of the mighty Big 12 (10, whatever). During Nolan's tenure (1985 - 2002), Arkansas won 7 of 10 from MU (by an average of more than 21 points!). As long as we're looking into the magic ball here, I think it makes more sense to allow that Mike @ Arkansas has a much better chance of success over KU than Mike @ Mizzou. C'mon, man - do a little homework, and give the guy a chance.

For all the Oklahomans who have been frustrated by the lack of fresh fruit over the winter, move to Missouri; since Anderson announced his resignation, the sour grapes are here in abundance. As an Oklahoman in exile in St. Louis, I'm here to tell you that I would be hard-pressed to find worse sports fans this side of Philadelphia. If the hyperbole isn't flying about how great the Cards are, the excuses are never in short supply over why the Blues, Rams, SLU basketball, etc. are failing. Anderson to Arkansas? Who cares. Let's just hope Castiglione makes the right choice about the Sooner hoops headman.

Everybody makes the final 8 every once in a while ????

That line is so stupid that it's along the lines of putting rockets on your skates to catch a roadrunner....

But the Picker is a cartoon character & this sort of idiotic statement is to be expected every once in a while....

Wgspost, that may have been your best comment ever.

Mizzou fans are the absolute worst. Their over-inflated sense of self importance is as laughable as their amount of Big 12 titles as a school (2) and National Championship titles overall (2).

But don't let the facts get in the way. Listen to any Mizzou fan and they'll tell you that the next head coach is either going to be Phil Jackson or Pat Riley.

No, seriously. Everybody really does make the final eight every once in a while. It definitely shouldn't be the top line on your resume. OU's made it plenty. OSU, sure. TU. Heck, even ORU's been a final eight team. How about, "Practically everbody makes the finale eight every once in a while."

Didn't Tark and Nolan win national titles with that style of play?

Mexi...don't get me started. You wouldn't believe the comments made by the sportscasters up here in St Louis...Mark McGuire was called the "Greatest ball player that ever lived," that is, until the same title was applied this past year to Albert Pujols. We also heard eye-rolling gems like, "The only one that can stop Albert is Albert." And if you've ever been to a Missouri - OU game at Faurot Field you know what mouth-breathers their fans are. Even Sooner coaches I know who've been traveling to Columbia for decades --the same people who would rather bite their own tongues than to make a remark critical of an opponent-- will wax poetic about the crass behavior of Missouri fans. And if you have been in Faurot during a football game you've no doubt heard the "Tiger Growl"...a very high-schoolish affectation that sounds more like a house-tabby hissing at a passing dachshund than a ferocious feline. I could go on and on...
