Basketball Shots

In one rating service, the TU basketball team is ranked in the upper 90's.

Last night, the TU basketball team lost to some hamburgers.

The following seems to be the way TU basketball is supported.

Half a house is comprised of regulars -- Hurricane grads, students, long-time supporters and the like.

The other half of the house is filled by people looking for a good time, a successful product.

Granted, TU is better than last year.

Some think: So is TV.

It's too early to dust off the Panic Button.

It's a hard ride from here to the NIT.

It's time for TU to be much better than it was earlier in the week.

In another basketball thoughts: Isn't ESPN getting a little loose in throwing around with its Instant Classic beads?

Sure, the Oklahoma State-Texas game was thrilling.

But it's doubtful that the outcome changed the destiny of either team.

Don't Instant Classics need to have more at stake -- don't they have to mean a little more?

I largely agree on TU. Young teams will struggle on the road and they aren't playing very well right now. That said, Hamburger U isn't exactly GIA in terms of hostility. On the radio, it sounded more like an exhibition game at a retirement home for Marshall fans.

TU relies on the guards too much -- no big guy and they can't get open. It doesn't matter how much you yell at them to rebound, you still have to score SOME points. McLean REALLY needs to get a shot from 5 ft. out.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you Mr. P---the OSU/Texas game was a classic. Triple overtime, incredible 3 point shots, a future #1 pick, and a coach almost passing out is pure joy to watch. Even if your not a fan of either team, you have to admit it was a rip roaring good game. Plus, we didn't have to listen to loudmouth Vitale. How classic is that!

Rip: The question lingers -- to be regarded as a classic, doesn't a game have to mean more than, say, nothing?

There are so many ESPN instant classics already, seems like they need to raise the bar.

Most classics I know had to do with some sort of title or other.

Playoff question: After ex-OU defender Harris went out, the Bears haven't stopped anybody.

Anybody know how the Bears can beat New Orleans?

Forget the back-story, the city.

Isn't the NO football team simply better?

Hey, I'm no poke fan, but I consider it a classic because it DID mean something, a "W". Are we devaluing victories that much these days.

Enjoyed the article yesterday, we will definately miss them in the future, but are glad the blogs will be here for us.

Regarding da Bears, I am getting the feeling that they will win because EVERYBODY is jumping on the Saints bandwagon. Just call me the contrarian, Bears by 2.

Rip: Every close game can't be a stinking classic.
Here's our formula.
Last-second herioics: 25 percent of a classic.
Multiple overtimes in a basketball game: add 10 percent.
Means something: 65 percent.
At exactly which positions are the Bears as good as the Saints?
This will be one of the extremely rare times when the best team wins!

Prediction: Bob Stoops days at OU are numbered. By the end of the month, he'll be named the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. I don't think he's happy in Norman. He's not succeeding like he did during his first years with the Sooners. I think he will finally consider an NFL job like the one in Dallas.

Jerry Jones has gone to the college well with success in the past, with both Johnson and Switzer. I think he will go again and try to regain an atmosphere like he did through the middle of the last decade.

Tulsa won't be the only team that will have looked for a new head coach this off season.
