Batman, Zsa Zsa and the Bear

It's Alabama. They want us to find a bear in the woods.

If you are reading Batman nowadays (and shame on you if you aren't), then you know Batman just found out about a young son he didn't know he fathered, and I'm going to use that to segue into a blog about Alabama football.
OSU plays Alabama in the Independence Bowl. Alabama will be guided by interim coach Joe Kines because head coach Mike Shula was fired, never mind that he was 10-2 last season.
What was Shula's crime? He's not Bear Bryant.
Since Bryant stepped down, Alabama has gone through coaches like Zsa Zsa Gabor went through husbands.
Check out a few infamous quotes that were attributed to Zsa Zsa:
--"I am a marvelous housekeeper. Every time I leave a man I keep his house."
"A girl must marry for love, and keep on marrying until she finds it."
--Asked how many husbands she had, Zsa Zsa once said, "You mean, other than my own?"
Gabor was married nine times. Alabama will have its eighth head coach in 22 years next season.
The problem in Tuscaloosa is no one can measure up to Bryant's shadow. Perhaps rabid fans will be satisfied only when someone with Bryant's DNA is coaching the Crimson Tide.
And that's where Batman comes in. If Batman just found out he had a son, perhaps Bryant has a son (or grandson) who has been stashed away for years, preparing himself for the day when he can be worthy of the houndstooth hat. Cub Bryant?
A word of warning, however. Batman's son turned out to be a trained-by-assassins brat (that's what happens when you have a fling with the daughter of an international terrorist) and -- spoiler warning -- the kid tried to eliminate Robin due to "sibling" jealousy. Be careful what you wish for.
At some point, Alabama needs to pick a coach and stick with him through thick and thin. In the meanwhile, the Crimson Tide could justifiably show its football highlights on Divorce Court.

Having lived in Alabama I saw first hand how their form of "Bedlam" works. Alabama MUST beat Auburn and vice versa. Its all they talk about all year! Each football program has had pretty good success over the years since Bear Bryant was no longer on the field. At a very early age one develops an alliance to Alabama or Auburn. Jimmie is right Bama needs to stand by their coach. OSU has done that for years. The Sooners tried after Switzer but I don't think they became very good at it.

Once again, Jimmie Tramel's writing style shows his brilliant perspectve in writing sports editorials, as well as his humor. After reading BATMAN, ZSA ZSA, AND THE BEAR, I am hopeful that University of Arizona will stand by our coach-MIKE STOOPS. Signed, OSU COWBOY ALUM LIVING IN TUCSON, ARIZONA
