Believing in receiving

Focus not just on the player who throws Oklahoma's passes Saturday night against North Texas, but on the players who catch them.
Bob Stoops has raved about wide receivers Malcolm Kelly, Manuel Johnson and Juaquin Iglesias throughout preseason camp. Adron Tennell, the Sooners' Kelly-in-waiting, has had his moments, as has true freshman Ryan Broyles.
Toss in Brandon Caleb and Quentin Chaney and it's another deep rotation. As usual, wideouts coach Kevin Sumlin says a commitment to all phases of the position will determine playing time.
"We don't want our guys playing more than 50 snaps. There's plenty of opportunities for everybody," Sumlin said. "But we've got to be more consistent. Last year we dropped too many balls. Our blocking wasn't anywhere it needed to be. Those are our two main goals.
"We've got to be more physical, because we have some running backs who can go wire to wire. We're putting pressure on (the wide receivers) to create running lanes and turn that 10-15-20-yard play into a 40-yard play and put the ball in the end zone."
