Best offense is good defense

With 1:30 remaining in Oklahoma State's first-round Big 12 Tournament game against Nebraska, every Cowboy player had a single-digit point total -- and that sounds like trouble, right? Wrong.
OSU's defense was so good that offense was rendered insignificant.
Mario Boggan scored with 1:25 left for his 11th point and became OSU's only player in double figures. During the regular season, the Cowboys were 0-5 when placing two or fewer players in double figures. They easily won their first postseason game because they smothered a Nebraska team with the kind of throwback defense played by Eddie Sutton and Henry Iba teams.
Sutton was on hand to watch the game and told an interesting story while having a burger with reporters before tipoff.
One of Sutton's close celebrity friends used to be singer Waylon Jennings. Jennings once told Sutton that Jennings' wife got Jennings straightened out and Johnny Cash's wife got Cash straightened out, but that dang old Willie Nelson thinks anything that can be smoked is not a drug.
The only thing smoking Thursday night was OSU's defense.
