Concerning the TU-BYU game, everybody around here loves TU but us, we being the Picker and his faithful companion, a Starbucks latte.

BYU opened on the road against Stoops Extra Strength, Mike Stoops and Arizona. Mike Stoops was supposed to set Tuscon on fire. But to date, there has been more steam in the average taco hut.

The pressure was on Stoops to score a point or two in front of one of the biggest Zona crowds in recent years.

And BYU was right there until the end when the Arizona kicker made a field goal that could have been good from about 72 yards.

The point is, this isn't Stephen Foster or Stephen Austin or which ever Stephen TU opened with.

BYU is legit. Stoops stuffed the opposing run game, as has become a family custom. But BYU passed easily and often. And its defense can run, an oddity.

The TU quarterback is a player and will have to bring his A-plus-plus-plus game.

This is about a two-rung step-up in class for Tulsa.
