Bill Young may have been the best coordinator hire in college football

Bill Young is at an age when a lot of coaches give strong consideration to retirement. OSU fans should pray that he coaches for another 10 years.

In his first season as the Cowboy defensive coordinator, Young has done a remarkable job.

Oklahoma State now ranks 13th nationally in rushing defense. Young has a weekly goal to hold the opposition to fewer than 100 rushing yards. The Cowboys limited Texas to 99 (3.1 per attempt). Saturday's Longhorn figures exactly match OSU's season averages of 99.0 rushing yards allowed per game and 3.1 allowed per attempt.

It is becoming more obvious that Young might have been the best coordinator hire in college football this year.

I know this is unrelated, but I have been looking for the "ask the beat writer" section that the TW had before. If you can answer this, when has any player been suspended for a full year by the NCAA? Is this a frequent occurrence? Even if Dez did have a lawyer present, how is his lying worse than the crimes seen across the league ('Bama laptop incident, eye gouge, and Blount punch)?

I will 2nd. that Young has done a great job in preparing the OSU defense. You can see as the games progress he constantly makes changes and keeps the offenses guessing. Seems to have a great rapport to with the players. Hope he stays around a long time. Imagine having both a Great Offense and Great Defense at OSU in the nest few years. Combined with the improved recruiting and coaching this is not a pipe dream. OSU is getting better and better.

As for Dez, sure he screwed up but taking him out for a whole year......too severe a punishment compared to what else goes on around the NCAA.

In my opinion, this seems harsh. Everyone is opining on this issue, but Mr. Haisten, can you get any data or instruct a person on how to find said data regarding frequency of suspensions at or exceeding one year?
