Blake Griffin back at Lloyd Noble

Blake Griffin joined Oklahoma basketball alumni like Alvan Adams, Hollis Price and Choo Kennedy at the Lloyd Noble Center Thursday. Outside of Kennedy's spur-of-the-moment 3-point shooting exhibition, however, the group kept to the sidelines.

They are coaches in Jeff Capel's inaugural OU hoops Fantasy Camp, and so they watched the 30 or 35 30-and-older campers with clipboards in hand.

Griffin took time from his scouting to stop by and chat with his old friends in the Oklahoma media. Here's how it sounded...

Q: How cool is it to get to be around your fellow alumni?

"Very cool. Hollis, Ebi (Ere) and all of them… Growing up watching them. It's awesome to see them back here and to be able to do something like this."

Q: It's not just players that Jeff Capel coached. This goes way back. How nice is that to see?

"That's something that Coach Capel has always talked about, this being a place that guys can come back to and feel welcomed. Greats from the past like Alvan and all these other guys. I think it's awesome. It's great to have so many guys come back."

Q: What will you talk to some of the former pros about?

"For right now, it's been pretty lighthearted. Saying hello and how've you been and all of that. But I'm sure throughout the rest of the camp I'll sit down with some of the guys about what they did and what they learned. It's always interesting to talk with guys who have done what you're trying to do, to get their advice."

Q: Alvan Adams is a bit before your time, but will you make a point to talk to him about some things?

"Oh yeah, definitely. He obviously did well for a long time, not just here. Hopefully I can pick his brain a little bit and see what he has to say."

Q: How is your knee?

"It feels great. I've been clear for about a month I guess. I'm just doing my workouts. It's been good."

Q: What will you do this summer?

"I'll just be working out for the most part, right up until training camp. I'll be working out mostly in L.A. getting ready."

Q: Is it nice to be home again?

"Definitely. To see my parents… I don't get the chance to come back here a lot. It's kind of a kill-two-birds-with-one-stone type of deal."
