In response to our beloved blog heads:

Yes, it's true, we did start at another newspaper, the Tulsa Tribune. When we were 11 years of age.

As for going national, the internet pretty much makes that a fact doesn't it.

Last year we got an email from a regular-reading soldier at the Baghdad airport. Talk about appreciating hearing from somebody.

Regarding going daily, we need a full day of therapy in the health spa after going once a week.

This space makes staying in touch on a more consistent basis possible.

Getting back to the question of the best football team in the state, we'd rank them this way at the moment.

1. Tie, OU, TU, OSU.

Here's some new material to think about over the weekend. If you have the stomach for it.

OU star runner Peterson has been held out of contact work. Same as last pre-season, right?

Keeping a quarterback from having his arms wrapped and tied behind his neck during a scrimmage is one thing.

But runners must eat punishment for breakfast. Runners thrive on blasting away.

We can't remember many, if any, other rushers, college or pro, who played pattycake until the first game.

The questions are: Will a runner be fit mentally and physically if he tippytoes untouched through pre-season?

Will not being smacked around in scrimmages make a runner injury prone?

Next time here, we will discuss, and all agree, that playing a simple non-conference schedule is dumb.

Are we having a blast yet?

Not bad, not bad at all.

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
