Bradford's numbers impressive

As the Heisman campaigns begin in earnest, here are some excellent statistical notes on Sam Bradford from OU's sports information department:

· Sam Bradford has now thrown for 300 or more yards in six consecutive games. That obliterates the previous Oklahoma school record of three, which Josh Heupel accomplished twice. Jason White never had more than two 300-yard games in succession. Ironically, during this six-game stretch for Bradford, Oklahoma has also exceeded the 200-yard rushing mark three times with another outing of 197 on the ground. Heupel was No. 2 in the Heisman balloting in 2000, while White won the award in 2003 before finishing third in 2004.

· Bradford has at least one 40-yard completion in six straight games and in 16 of his 21-game* career. This season, Bradford has seven touchdown passes that exceeded 50 yards.

· Bradford has completed 70% of his passes in 13 of his 21 career games*. This season, he has been over 70% in five of seven games. In the other two he was at 67% and 56%.

· After leading the nation in passing efficiency last season, Bradford is currently No. 2 with a rating of 192.22. That mark is best among quarterbacks in BCS conferences.

· Bradford has thrown five touchdown passes in five games during his career – last season against Miami and Texas A&M, and this season against Cincinnati, Washington and Texas.

· With eight 300-yard passing games, Bradford trails only Heupel in OU history. Heupel had 14. White had seven.

*It should be noted that Bradford left the 2007 Texas Tech game during the second series and did not return. That game has not been subtracted from these totals, but probably should be – he was 2-of-3 before departing.
