A day after University of Oklahoma linebacker Austin Box was memorialized at his funeral in Enid, there is potentially more tragic news for the Sooner Nation.
Former All-American safety Brandon Everage may have drowned in his hometown of Granger, Texas, on Friday. His aunt posted on Facebook that the 30-year-old was missing after an incident at Granger Lake, and multiple other family members posted “RIP” statuses directed to Everage late Friday.
There are no official confirmations, and calls to Granger officials went unanswered.
Everage played at OU in 1999-2003 and was a member of teams that won a national title and three Big 12 championships.
In 2002, he was an American Football Coaches Association first-team All-American, an Associated Press second-team All-American and a Thorpe Award semifinalist.
Granger is located 45 miles northeast of Austin.
