Bringing NCAA is Good First Step

Tulsa doesn't have to prove it can put on major sports events.
The city has played host to seven major golf championships at Southern Hills Country Club. Plus, the LPGA has a regular tour stop at Cedar Ridge Country Club.
But the NCAA Tennis Tournament opened Thursday at TU's Case Tennis Center and it is a good first step toward landing more NCAA events.
The success of the 2004 NCAA Tennis Tournament helped land this year's event.
It also showcases the city as an NCAA host.
Perhaps, the NCAA will look more kindly upon our chances to host other NCAA events like the NCAA Wrestling Tournament or NCAA Basketball Regionals at the new BOK Center.
Tennis may not be your favorite sport but there's a good chance that the success of the tournament could lead to other events, some of them you may love, in the future.

I'm not a huge tennis fan but I'm planning to go Sunday to watch some matches. If for no other reason to check out the Case Center and everything else going on at TU. I just wish the OSU tennis team wasn't playing USC the same night as bedlam baseball. Hopefully they can win and be playing on Sunday for me to watch. Go Pokes!

Nice to see that TU is providing places for scholarship and ordinary students to have a place to play and practice. Nice article
