Budke's Endless Enthusiasm

The first thing we noticed about Kurt Budke, on the day he was announced as Oklahoma State women’s basketball seven years ago, was how excited he was to be OSU’s coach.
He said he was thrilled, honored and would work as hard as he could to turn the Cowgirls into winners.
No one doubted him.
Budke along with assistant coach Miranda Serna and two others were killed in the crash of a small plane in Arkansas Thursday night.
It was devastating news for all of us on Friday morning.
Budke’s endless enthusiasm made him a popular person with players, media, fans and other coaches.
He just seemed happy all of the time.
The last time I talked with him he was calling to check on how a colleague of mine was doing. He just wanted to make sure everyone was okay.
Budke is a loss for not only Oklahoma State but for everyone in our state and for everyone touched by his life.
We are deeply saddened and extend our sympathy to the families of all those lost in the crash.
