The Buzz Williams Watch – let's work on another name; I'm open to suggestions – officially begins with quotes from the man himself, posted three hours after Marquette's Sweet 16 loss to North Carolina
According to the Twitter feed of Milwaukee Journal Sentinel beat writer Todd Rosiak, Williams said: "I have now completed three seasons as head coach at MU. I have worked under three different contracts. I anticipate, if I can sleep between now and open of business on Monday, that on Monday we'll begin to work on the fourth contract...
"Is it gonna happen on Monday? I don't think so. I can tell you this: from the bottom to the top… I have great confidence in them. I think they feel the same way about me. And no amount of money, no years of service, no anything else that goes into a contract means more to me than that...
"I have great comfort about where I'm at personally and where I'm at professionally. I have unbelievable confidence and faith in the upper management at MU. And that's not going to change, regardless of my emotional level from just getting whipped in the Sweet 16. I think that our future is bright...
"If you track my past, I've never made a decision on money. Ever. And I have never made a decision on location."
Looks like Joe Castiglione's second search -- whether it ends with Williams or another coach -- might take a little longer than his first (13 days if you're keeping score). Gonna be an interesting upcoming 72 (96? 120?) hours. We best get some sleep.
