Question: What does the Oklahoma State basketball team have in common with Willie Nelson? (No jokes, please, about former players who may have found a herbal kind of trouble).
Answer: The Cowboys just can’t wait to get out on the road again.
OSU is 8-1 prior to a Wednesday game at Stanford. The only loss came in the only true road game this season. The Cowboys absorbed a 21-point defeat at Tulsa.
“The last road game wasn’t too good,” junior forward Marshall Moses said. “We didn’t play too good and we weren’t focused at all. We are ready to make up for the last road game.”
Elaborating on the lack of focus, Moses said, “Our young guys had never been on the road and even our veteran guys didn’t play like we had been on the road before. I’m not making any excuses for that loss, but we have to be more focused if we expect to beat a team like Stanford, in their gym come Wednesday night.”
Coach Travis Ford said another road trip will be “good for us.”
“We need it,” he said. “I’ve been ready since we played at Tulsa to get back on the road. To me, as a competitor, that stuff really upsets me.”
Ford said the Cowboys will have to exhibit some toughness this time.
Stanford, picked to finish last in the Pac-10, is 5-3. Stanford started 1-2 with losses to San Diego and Oral Roberts, but the Cardinals are 4-1 since and the only blemish was to Kentucky in overtime.
