Landry Jones' accuracy was terrible against a bad team. STEPHEN PINGRY/Tulsa World

Here's where we stand in the middle of October.

OU's Jones reverted back to his hitchhiker mode on the road -- he looked like a guy throwing rocks at road signs and missing by a mile.

His accuracy was terrible against a sad team.

OU needs a much better run game to even think about contending with SEC powers. The walk-on is fine. But Finch is the mystery that deserves an explanation. He is clearly a break-away threat, yet Stoops continues to punish him for something.

Oklahoma State's perimeter defense is awful. Texas runners would take a handoff and run ten yards untouched. The way you play Texas is take away the run and make the quarterback try to throw. The Texas quarterback has an arm with a mind of its own.

OSU's ultra-conservative defensive approach has worked so far. But outscoring people gets tougher as the year progresses.

Missouri is a serious threat to upset OSU Saturday morning in Columbia.

Mack of Texas needs to mix in a couple hundred salads.

Jerry Jones holds the key to future success in Dallas. First he should fire the coach for rotten play calling versus New England. Then Jerry Jones should fire himself for hiring that coach in the first place. If you don't trust your quarterback to complete more than an underhand shovel pass with the game on the line, don't play him.

The juvenile backwards ballcap hat jinx lives. Add the Detroit quarterback to the list of those bitten. Others before him to look like saps with backwards hats and then lose big are: Tony Turnover, Big Ben of the Steelers, McNabbed of Minnie, now the Detroit character.

The Lions are average.

San Francisco can do nothing but win games.

Kansas State is the San Francisco of college ball.

The BCS crooked one-game title scam has never been in such danger of being exposed as a fraud. Undefeated teams are everywhere. Boise gets cheated again. Here's what the BCS wackos could be saying to the likes of Boise, Stanford, Wisky, and Clemson: Your best is not good enough. Tough. Now we're off to play some free golf.

i would be sooo happy if any team from texas never won another game. and i am not limiting that to football. i mean any team any sport. even a pee wee hockey match is fair game.

Hey coach Heupel here's a suggestion: next time you find yourself 1st and goal inside the 5 how bout you just trot out the kicker and get it over with. Handing off 3 yards deep only to have your battering ram bounce backward off the butt of some o-lineman is becoming too painful to watch. And tell Roy it's time to man-up if he wants more playing time. The guy can't carry more than 3 times without hobbling off with something hurt.

Poor Sam "Paper or Plastic" Bradford is at the Cowboys Saturday for a near homecoming.

There's one sure-fire Texas winner.

Snicker has a Finch for OU running game
OU now relying on the ‘ol TU Rader play book,
throw a quick 15 yr pass down the line of scrimmage
to a receiver standing still & see IF he can juke a “D” corner coming @ him @ 90 mph.
U think Kanas had that play “read’ by the 10th attempt?

Does anybody do more w/ less than
K-St coach Synder?
Does anybody do less w/ more than
Texas Coach Mac Daddy Brown and Jerry Jones?

Poke Choke in a Tiger Trap Saturday?
Better Run game will decide this one

9 undefeated teams left,
3 are in the Big 12
Up to 6 teams could finish
the regular season undefeated

Boise St QB is a 1st rd pick
They’ve got several top notch playmakers
But Sun Belt teams play better schedules

How long before the "Dude" snaps in big D ????

His Dallas D gets no help from the broken QB & neither does the offense.... 1st time I've ever seen a QB visibly fearful of throwing a pass & the head coach had the same look.... They chose putting the ball in a ROOKIE rb's hands rather than having their experienced QB decide the game....

QB afraid to pass, head coach afraid to have QB pass, Defensive head coach afraid he's gonna hafta kill the QB....

So Pick, is there a good football team on earth besides your beloved Bama and LSU? College football teams play 48 quarters in the regular season...had Jones had a bad quarter yet? Maybe the Sooners care factor was really low, not that this is a good habit but cmon, KU? Everyones a fraud or sucks or whatever. The only thing you seem to grasp is that the BCS is a joke...now theres a real news flash.

Yikes, just heard Auburn will start Clint Moseley at QB against that LSU juggernaut defense. Chizik says 'we need a spark there'. Poor kid's gonna need an Extreme body makeover after Saturday's game.

Here is the truth....Pick

"The biggest story of the weekend: Texas. Texas is back and is big, bad trouble for OU in Dallas. The freshman runner is the next Peterson. The quarterback is the next McCoy, very mobile and accurate. The defense is almost as good as OU's."

Hahahahahahahah

PG, how does life look through the rear view mirror?
dcood (last year)
Surely we're not gonna go all nuts over LSU beating a sorry Auburn team are we(you Mr Pick)? Please remember they were a perfectly executed onside from losing to Utah St @ home....

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
