It figured the Oklahoma baseball roster would be in for an overhaul, coming off both OU's disappointing 2011 season and a Major League draft that included 11 Sooners.
Might change also come to the coaching staff?
The Florida State Rivals website Warchant.com reports that OU pitching coach Mike Bell is "considered the leading candidate" to replace Jamey Shouppe in the same capacity at FSU. That is, assuming Shouppe ends his 21-year Seminoles career with a resignation that FSU media outlets report as imminent.
The Tallahassee Democrat lists Bell as one of three candidates to replace Shouppe, along with Stetson pitching coach and former FSU All-American Chris Roberts and Chipola (Fla.) College head coach Jeff Johnson.
It seems a logical move for Bell to make. He is a Florida native who graduated from FSU in 1996, and who began his coaching career in the Florida high school and junior college ranks.
Bell recently completed his fourth season with the Sooners.
