Chill Out Bowls

If you can't go to a good bowl, going to a freaky bowl is the best strategy.

And OU has accomplished the freaky bowl goal in a big way, as it heads to the Sun, which is just up the street from what has been described as "The Murder Capital of the World." That would be the Mexican city of Juarez.

The head of the Sun Bowl said he would advise people not to go to Mexico at this time.

Guess what, people, El Paso without Mexico is Guymon!

El Paso by its own self makes the Independence Bowl seem wildly entertaining.

And keeping with the freak or bust theme, OU's bowl opponent, Stanford, is terrible. It has a good runner, no quarter back (injury) and a lousy defense.

And what of OSU's bowl? The Cotton? This will probably mark the 67th visit to Dallas for some players. What is there for a young man to do in Dallas in January?

Well, about the same as OU's plan.

Get freaky.

Can't think of much worse than El Paso except maybe that pizza bowl in Detroit.

Actually...El Paso IS Mexico. I wonder if the road signs are in Spanish?

Yeah but at least it's only about a 12 hour drive... Truly is punishment for going 7-5 I guess. Wish they had sent them to Alamo.

Stanford has a great offense, but no defense. The Venables coached defense has forgotten to show up in 3 of their previous 5 bowl game losses. In addition, OU has no QB, just one wide receiver, and a lousy offense away from Owen Field. Therefore, Stanford could still beat OU. I wouldn't consider Stanford a terrible team. They're still much better than USC.

Neither the Cotton nor the Sun Bowl is any good. However, that's what happens when you lose more than 2 games in a season.
