If I was Peyton Manning, I would have already placed a phone call to Steve Spurrier.
Back in college, Manning was the quarterback for Tennessee and he had a tough time beating Florida, which was coached by Spurrier.
Spurrier made jokes at Manning's expense, saying that Manning came back for his senior season at Tennessee because he wanted to win the Citrus Bowl again. Spurrier also said you can't spell citrus without the letters UT.
Now Manning is a Super Bowl winner, which means he reached the mountaintop in the highest level of football.
Spurrier gave the NFL a try, too. He went 12-20 in two seasons as head coach of the Washington Redskins. His last Redskin team was outscored 85-31 in its final three games. Apparently, you can't spell devastated without the letters S-T-E-V-E.
It's true that what comes around, goes around. And Manning probably has too much class to call Spurrier and say "Hey ball coach, how did that NFL thing work out for you?"
