Coaches survey revealing

The Seattle Times on Wednesday published the results of its annual coaches survey, and one of 42 coaches on the ballot was OU's Bob Stoops. Some interesting tidbits:

The Pac-10 Conference, OU fans will not be surprised to learn, drew the most votes for the conference with the worst officiating. The Pac-10 got nine votes (I'm thinking Stoops was one of them), the SEC five, the ACC, the Big 12 and WAC two each. No other league got more than one vote, and the Big Ten was not named on a single ballot.

The Big Ten was, on the other hand, named on the most ballots when the question turned to the best-officiated conference. The Big Ten got seven votes, the Big 12 and SEC five each and the Pac-10 and ACC two apiece.

Asked if they were in favor of or against an early signing day for recruiting, the vote was 26-15 in favor. Stoops has said he'd like to have one in December.

Best quarterback seen in person? Peyton Manning got five votes, Ben Roethlisberger four, Philip Rivers three, and Michael Vick, Brian Brohm and Kevin Kolb got two each. Vince Young also got two votes. Think Stoops cast his vote for Young or for Manning, who at Tennessee went 0-2 against Stoops' Florida defense. (Roger Staubach, Jim Kelly and John Elway also received a vote.)

And who's the best overall pure football player they've seen since they've been a head coach?
Reggie Bush got four votes, Calvin Johnson got three. Deion Sanders, A.J. Hawk and Joe Thomas each got two votes. A pair of Sooners also received two votes: Roy Williams and Adrian Peterson. Wonder if Stoops voted them a tie for first.
