Cold War

Give Iowa State football coach Gene Chizik a raise.
I stepped out of a hotel in Iowa this morning and was greeted by a temperature of minus-7 and a wind chill factor colder than Bill Belichick's heart. While walking from the parking lot to Hilton Coliseum -- site of an OSU-Iowa State basketball game -- my hot chocolate turned into a slush.
Iowa State is hosting football recruits this weekend. If any of them commit, I would consider it an upset just because of the temperature.

Jimmie,

Know what you mean. Over 20 years ago I had to spend three months in the Green Bay area during the dead of winter. Snow kept mounting and it got so cold one day that the U.S. mail was not delivered. Trying to convince college athletes who did no grow up in that environment to come to their school has to be challenging. I can only imagine what it will be like for this weekend's GB-NY game. I really feel more for the fans.
