College Cheats

Let's hear no more of grade-point averages, okay? Let's read no more pompous stories about which schools are below the academic norm.

Forget about graduation rates statistics and trends.

And NCAA rules violations about nonsense like buying somebody poor a sandwich and giving somebody a lift to work, even so-called major violations, dear stuffed-shirt committees lawyers: be quiet.

Sportsmanship? There is no longer any such thing.

First-team all brain team? Not interested.

Halftime stories about research labs? Save it.

It's all down down the septic tank drain after what transpired with the number one showcase of college competitive endeavors this weekend: the football final exams.

College cheats.

Missouri was cheated in college football.

Robbed. Swindled. Disrespected.

Missouri defeated two BCS bowl teams, Kansas and Illinois, but isn't going to a BCS bowl!

Speaking of crooks or hacks, check out the teachers, the leaders -- the coaches: Look how they voted in the poll.

OU beat Missouri twice, yet the following coaches voted Missouri over OU: Bobby Bowden, Tommy Bowden, Howard Schnellenberger and Mike Belloti!

Did the Bowdens get together around the Thanksgiving dinner table and decided to go after Stoops? Old Bobby had OU ranked tenth!

As shocking, former TU coach Kragthorpe showed his backside by voting OU eighth!

Hey coach K, be sure and let everybody know when you're coming back to the state for a visit.

Talk about OU haters, these two coaches, along with the ones mentioned above, didn't have OU in the top five: Butch Davis and Dennis Franchione.

After blatantly cheating Missouri for no reason whatsoever, the college football gang has all the credibility of a bunch of copycats who had the answers up their sleeves before the test.

UT-Norman should be in the championship game. Everybody is against them, first the refs, now the coaches. It is a vast right wing conspiracy.
Accountability (5 years ago)
There really needs to be some accountability. I'm not just talking about biases against OU either. Perhaps these votes need to be monitored, and anyone who consistently votes AGAINST a team should be forced to explain their reasoning OR to give up their voting rights. Any person who can say MO is better than OU after we beat them TWICE needs their heads examined. What a sorry display of sportsmanship and petty crybaby coaches.
Why? (5 years ago)
Why does Fran get to vote still?
WORLDPICKER (5 years ago)
Might anybody know what's up with Kragthorpe?

His putting OU eighth is, among other things, stupid.

Stoops might be able to help him get an assistant's job in a year or so.

Bobby Bowden and Howard Schnellenberger can be excused for their votes; senility is setting in. Tommy Bowden always has been an idiot - his time at ABC Sports was good for comic relief only. I guess Mike Belotti is mad at OU for the "replaygate" fiasco at Autzen last year. Screw 'em all. We know how good OU is right now; too bad they didn't play this well all year or they would have the chance to punch out Ohio State's lights. Lucky LSU gets to do the honors instea.
Where can you find out how coaches voted in the coaches poll?
WORLDPICKER (5 years ago)
The complete, vote by vote list, is in USA Today today, that paper has an exclusive with the poll, I guess.

It is amazing reading.

Simply, these coaches are either rats or cowards.

I think Loopy Les had OU fifth.
Ignatz (5 years ago)
Maybe these coaches are aware of how arrogant these obnoxious OU fans are and are punishing the school for that reason, or....maybe its because mediocre
Tech & Buff teams beat them. You think? There is a reason Picker doesn't want to compare graduation rates of the Sooner Semi-Pros to any academic institution. Why do you think that is? No, maybe 5 will go the NFL and the other 50 or so will go on to work for the latest incarnation of Penn Square Bank, sell cars, wash cars, car-jack cars, or sell live bait.

Ignatz, I can't decide if its your name or your commments, but something about you makes me think of the word ignorant.

OK-ignorance indicates an unawareness of facts. S,atire, parody, sarcasm or whatever exaggerates a situation to make a point (point being that OU,Texas, LSU,USC, Ohio State, Miami, et al operate at a level and for reasons totally different from the TU's and Baylor's) You probably meant "stupid", as in sending the same message on the internet 18 minutes after the first.

These same guys will be voting the teams selected for a playoff system. Does anyone really think it will end the howling?
Glenn (5 years ago)
I agree with Accountability. There needs to be some monitoring of the coaches' votes. If some of those who vote in the coaches poll continue to not know what they are doing when they are voting, they should be banned from voting in the coaches poll.
Also, Mizzou did get screwed completely. They beat the then No. 2 team in the country Kansas and a top 15 Illinois team, yet, Kansas goes to the Orange Bowl instead. Mizzou is ranked No. 6 in the BCS and Kansas in No. 8. Name one ranked team that Kansas beat this year. Oh, wait a minute. They haven't even beaten anyone receiving votes for the top 25.

Good morning Mr. Picker. Would like to apologize for OU by 10 pick. Gosh, really missed that one.
If Missouri had won, all the whinning would not be necessary.
If OU had beaten Colorado, all the whinning would not be necessary.
Morning Jimbo. Indiana should be a nice match-up for you. Good luck.

I think that the voting for the college football poll should be done by the only group in the country that has the knowledge and experience to make such a weighty decision, the bright lights of sports in Oklahoma City. Dean, Al, Hump, Jenni, Jim, Mark, Barry, Rodie have the credentials to make such an important decision.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...OU is not one of the 2 best teams in the country. Their 2 losses are to overall, not very good teams. Colorado is not good. Texas Tech plays zero defense and OU couldn't put up enough points to beat them with their vaunted offense. They should have lost to Iowa St. as well. LSU is one of the best 2 teams in the country...they are very talented on offense, and defensively they'll put your lights out. Until Dennis Dixon got hurt, Oregon was also one of the top 2 teams. Ohio St., not a top 2 team despite a fantastic record. Mizzou....sorry, can't beat OU then you are not on either. Kansas....can't beat MIzzou, so neither are you. I guess that leaves us with USC who played banged up early in the season and didn't impress me much, however, what they have done lately while healthy shows me that they are much deserving of the no. 2 slot in the championship game. BTW, I'm a TU fan and not a homer of any of the teams from above, so I'm probably the most objective opinion on here...listen to me. And I probably watch more games or portions of games than any coach...they should let me vote in the poll.

Oh and to Dean Blevins...your a freakin' moron. Take a look at the world without your OU paycheck and blood colored glasses and see that quality college football is being played in other parts of the country. I hate listening to you and we'd all be better off for not having to listen to you kiss David Boren's and Bob Stopps a$$e$ each week.

Belloti is my favorite. Wins the game and still holds a grudge! Great coaching. Would be perfect for OSU if T-Boone could afford him.
Epphan (5 years ago)
Not the expert BA obviously is, so could someone explain exactly what USC has done lately? I like the shiny uniforms. Is that it?

Subject: The BCS

[To:BA: So you think you should be allowed to vote in the poll because you watch a lot of football? Well, I watch ER and House every week, can I perform an appendectomy on you?? Somebody boil some water, please]

1. There is really nothing wrong with LSU v. OSU in the NC Game. If there were a playoff those two teams could very well be in the final game anyway. But....there are other teams AS deserving...NOT MORE deserving.
This = need for playoff of some type.

2. Missouri did not get "cheated". They became a victim of the system they and their university president and all other university presidents created and control.
University Presidents in control of NCAA???
This = inmates in charge of the asylum.

2.A. Missouri did not dominate Kansas the way they (MU) were dominated by OU-especially in last game of the season.
This = late season perception influence.

3. The SEC , while the best conference, is NOT the dominatant conference many sportswriters and pundits, including World Picker, would have us all believe. The hype got LSU in the NC game to the exclusion of others.
This = World Picker type hacks' ignorance running rampant.

4. Bowl Records mean zilch in rating a conference. See 3. above.

5. There is no trophy for "Best Conference". It is a myth, perpetuated by hacks like the World Picker.

6. OSU must play LSU at home, but OSU wins a close one. Would like to see LSU play some more away games. What if the Sugar Bowl was in the neutral site of say...Cleveland. Or the Rose Bowl was in the neutral site of say...Detroit.

7. USA/Coaches Polll votes prove World Picker is dead wrong about scheduling cupcakes. Obvioulsy, schedule makes no difference to voters who comprise two thirds (along with the Harris Poll) of the BCS standings.

8. The one team OU, oops, I mean Missouri, doesn't want any more of is Oklahoma. McFadden could run them silly in Big D-even with a new coach. Pinkel is a liability.

9. World Picker should be fired. But, then who would be our favorite whipping boy? Jimbo? BA? Doug F. - Meridian?
VOICE OF SANITY (5 years ago)
Why even have a Coaches Poll?

Also, the REAL killer for OU was the BCS computer rankings: they hated on the Sooners for than the Bowdens, Belottis, and Miles combined!

There is no way to fix this mess except to go to a Plus One format.
Epphan (5 years ago)
Yep. Comps have Mizzou at 4 and OU at 6. Them there are some smart machines.

NITPICKER! You are an idiot! Week after week with this half-witted trash talk! Get a life! You probably have a JO poster of the Picker hanging over your bed! For you NITPICKER, your picking must refer to a function involving your nose or butt rather than any sort of intelligent function involiving sports or otherwise. Just shut up and listen to your head rattle eslewhere. You got old weeks ago!

NIT WIT THE CHICKEN SH8:

Learn how to spell gawk correctly and then maybe you will be in the same league as me. That’s right Mr. Perfect you did not spell it correctly on the WORLDPICKERS other blog comment section "qawk" nice going NIT WIT and I thought spelling and punctuation and format was your specialty because you sure as sh8 can't seem to see through your Crimson colored glasses long enough to be very objective about college football. BTW that was a nice token comment about Ohio State and LSU playing in the NC title game before you went into your normal mOUronic spill. No arguments here though about the BCS system it is jacked up and they should just remove the "C" and call it the BS system. Maybe someday you can write a comment that doesn't show your mOUronism (doubtful but possible).

Too bad mOUron that OU doesn't get to play for the NC title but then again the voters saved OU from another embarrassing National Championship moment. A play off would be a welcomed sight. I honestly would like to know how OU, KU, and Mizzou would do in a playoff. Guess we will have to wait for the powers to be to pull their heads out of the a$$es. One thing we know year in and year out is that OU SUCKS!!!! GO COWBOYS BEAT THE HOOSIERS!!!
WORLDPICKER (5 years ago)
Ohio State beat no team in the BCS top 15.

Ohio State's schedule is ranked 50th.

Ohio State lost at home.

Why is Ohio State number one? Is there anything that resembles a reason?

Here is the fan's only recourse: Go to Vegas and bet against every Big Ten team, as they universally stink.
