Come Back KU

One thing we haven't heard enough from the City is: THANK YOU KANSAS!

Without KU basketball, somebody would have been playing in front of 10,000, with a national sports disgrace pending. Imagine North Carolina and Illinois playing in front of 6,500, the dreaded Hooterville Cam coming into use to blur all the empty seats.

To say that Kansas travels well, and repopulates nearby states well, is something of an understatement.

Face it, this city didn't respond in a big way when it came to attendance. And who can blame people, with no in-state teams handy, and stiffs like the Illini on the scene.

The chief complaint from those who attended the games was that the great arena was built on a spot that reminded some of the Osage County flatlands -- next to a jail and a post office. Many visitors enjoy parking and locking up the car for the weekend. The hot dog carts did a big business.

And thanks again, KU.

12,000 tickets had been purchased prior to NCAA brackets being announced and the highest attended game was a little over 15,000. Kansas didn't provide much of a boost.

Where were the Texas fans??? All talk, no travel? C'mon, Longhorns. All I ever hear about is the size of the fanbase and how far it reaches out into the region. But where were they when it mattered? Recovering from SXSW?

Just one more reason, if there is gonna be NCAA tourney hoops in Oklahoma, it's gotta be in OKC. The Pick even admits T-Town didnt respond well and points out in code how there is nothing cool to do by the new BOK(which is awesome). Pretty sure OKC has sold out the regionals they have hosted as quickly as they can physically take the orders AND Bricktown continues to be the best place in Oklahoma for nightlife and restaurants, especially for the masses that attend sporting events. Sorry Tulsa.

Right on the money. God Bless The Tulsa Sports Commision, but good grief, few in Tulsa really care. I suspect a lot of the original 12,000 plus tickets were already purchased by KU people in anticipation. Regardless, there were more people from Memphis than Tulsa Friday morning, and the same with KU the remaining sessions.

BS.

LOL look it up bud. The attendance figures are in and Tulsa's average was slightly better. The facts don't agree with your uninformed opinion yet again, deal with it.
