Come Back Tiger

Tiger Woods at the 2007 PGA in Tulsa. STEPHEN PINGRY/Tulsa World file

Bring the strippers. Bring the party planners. Spit, throw clubs, lose your temper.

Anything is better than the current crop of chokers representing this country on the pro golf tour: Slap-happy Phil, the head pro at the Stepford C.C., an unbefitting smile plastered on his clueless mush, missing a two-foot putt; Dustin "Hacker" Johnson, who handles pressure like the guy with the white flag, shanking an iron out of bounds.

At least the women's soccer team didn't choke until the shootout, when three players missed penalty kicks, one of them missing the entire goal itself.

Japan tied the game 2-2 on a one-in-50 goal.

At least the USA women got to extra time.

What's the deal with soccer? Same as we said last week. Win, people watch. Lose, nobody watches.

Missing a putt inside the leather, hacking one sideways, come back Tiger, entourage and all.

forget tiger, he's finished. as long as he wears his 'Buddha bracelet" he will never be successful.

Mr. Picker. I couldn't agree more.

I think if we asked Mr. Wilcox the time he would insert some form of prejudice into his answer. Intolerance need not be included in a response to this article?

Tiger has unbelievable talent, he'll certainly be successful again, as soon as he concentrates on golf. Right now, he's too busy trying to get Elin back. Golf isn't as important right now as it once was... who can blame him for at least attempting to repair his life?

Tiger was always there at the end, even if he didn't win he was pushing the other players to be better than they were....

The last two majors have seen an AARP rep & a pre-teen win with the rest of the field grazing on those lush playing courses with no real desire to win because even if they lose, they still get to collect a giant check because that's the payouts that Tiger's much dwelled upon augmented polarization created....

With Tiger there is a spotlight on the game, without him out there, it's like the old days before Jack & Arnie, no electricity....

how many have quit steroids and gone on with success?

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
