Mike Price got fired at Alabama before ever coaching a game. George O'Leary was let go at Notre Dame before ever coaching a game.
What else do they have in common besides premature unemployment? Price and O'Leary are responsible for handing Tulsa its only league football defeats this season.
It sort of makes you wonder who got punished for their transgressions -- the coaches or TU? Price and O'Leary have done great jobs at their respective save-face schools, UTEP and UCF.
Would Notre Dame be in the midst of its current mess if O'Leary had gotten to stay at the school? TU coach Todd Graham usually has something quotable to say about every topic. He treated this particular question like the hot potato that it could be.
"I don't know about that," Graham said. "I think George is a great football coach. I think he's one of the classiest guys in our league. His guys are very, very well-coached. I don't know any situation about what (Notre Dame is) in now."
