Corso can't quit Landry Jones

Oklahoma is No. 4 in both preseason polls. Overrated, right?
Not in Bristol.
Saturday morning, two of the three College GameDay pundits stuck Oklahoma in the national championship. Desmond Howard had the Sooners losing to Florida State, while Lee Corso picked them to bow to USC.
Kirk Herbstreit joined his two cohorts in picking OU to win the Big 12 Conference, adding: "But look out for West Virginia and Texas." (Herbstreit tabbed Florida State to beat USC for the national title.)
When it came time to forecast a Heisman Trophy winner, Corso did the usual and went with Landry Jones. He didn't really give a reason other than stubbornness (it's the third straight year Corso has picked Jones for the award.)
At any rate, this is as good a place to start OU's first game week as any. The Sooners haven't depended so much on a quarterback since Josh Heupel in Bob Stoops' first year on the job, 1999.
That at least one of the GameDay analysts believes so highly in Jones must be a good sign. Corso hasn't been shaken by the bumps in the QB's career. That has to count for something, even if OU fans might feel better if Herbstreit or Howard had equal faith in Jones (they liked Matt Barkley and Denard Robinson for the Heisman).
