Cotton Bowl Bigger, Maybe Not Better

Much has been made of the Cotton Bowl improvements to keep the OU-Texas game in Dallas.
Well, at first glance, it is definitely bigger. The crowds around the stadium before the game were tight. Walking was a struggle. Any movement was a struggle.
Instead of 72,000 fans wandering around before the game, there are now 92,000 folks. And, that's just the people with tickets.
Add in another 60,000 or so who just come out for the atmosphere and you get the feeling that everyone in Dallas is at the fair.
It would be hard to imagine any other teams wanting to pllay here. Sure, it is great history and tradition for OU and Texas.
However, the Cotton Bowl game and just about everyone else that plays football in Dallas is moving to the new Dallas Cowboys stadium.
Yes, the Cotton Bowl is bigger. One has to wander if that will be ebough when OU and Texas start talking about the future of the game.

Growing up in Norman and the Sooner Nation, I've experienced many Red River Shootouts and have many bittersweet memories. It would be devastating to move the game away from the Cotton Bowl, especially after all of the recent improvements. The Texas State Fair is a major part of the OU- Texas tradition.
They have already taken away Commerce Street from downtown Dallas from all of the fans, and now the fairgrounds? There are many Sooners and Longhorn boosters and Alumni who agree, but like anything else, change is inevitable, it doesn't have to make sense. A select few powerful tycoons like Jerry Jones or whoever thinks they will benefit from this, will ruin a great tradition that is been a big part of college football for many, many years. The Texas State Fair, and The Cotton Bowl makes OU Texas one of the best college football atmospheres ever!!

C'mon. The improvements were only in number of seats. Still not nearly enough bathrooms and if they are gonna serve beer that equals annoyed people. One year of this game at Jerryworld and everybody would forget all about the Cotton Bowl.

I love the tradition as much as anyone. Read 'Runnin with the Big Dogs'.....

However, how big would this game be in Norman every other year?

HUGE!
