Cowboys: A (big) swing and a (record) miss

Oklahoma State beat Savannah State 84-0 in a season opener and lost 59-38 at Arizona in a road opener.
How is it possible that the Cowboys can win by an 84-point margin on one Saturday and lose by a 21-point margin the following Saturday? That’s a 105-point swing (for the worse) in the span of one week. Is that some sort of school record?
Actually, it’s not. But it was darn close.
In 1913, OSU followed a 112-3 victory over Phillips University with a 3-0 loss at Arkansas. That’s a 106-point swing.
In 1912, the Cowboys beat Oklahoma Methodist 90-0 and, for an encore, lost 16-0 at Oklahoma in the next game. That’s also 106-point swing.
So, the 105-point swing isn’t a record. It’s just the biggest swing in the last 100 years.
