Cowboys Hitting Stride for Bedlam Week

You know Oklahoma State football has undergone a complete renovation when the Cowboys are down to their third-team quarterback and they are still pounding Big 12 teams.
OSU did it again on Saturday.
Clint Chelf, who started the season as the third-team quarterback, has started two straight games - a 55-34 victory over West Virginia and a 59-21 victory over Texas Tech.
“I don’t know if that (a third-team quarterback leading a team to Big 12 victories) would have been possible around here in the past,” said OSU coach Mike Gundy. “Actually, I don’t think there are a lot of teams out there that would have a third-team quarterback capable of winning games.
“I think that says a lot about Clint and Todd (Monken, offensive coordinator) and all of our guys. He’s not doing it by himself. We’ve got a lot of guys playing well right now.”
Considering OSU’s injuries at quarterback and receiver, it is remarkable how well the Cowboys are playing, especially on offense.
However, the past two weeks the defense and special teams have been key in two blowout victories.
Just a week after the special teams were key in pounding West Virginia, the Cowboys blocked two punts against Texas Tech.
In addition, the defense had three turnovers.
Suddenly, OSU is on fire as the season winds down to the final two weeks.
“I think any time you win two straight games, especially in that fashion against good football teams, you feel like you have some momentum going,” said Chelf.
As a result, the Cowboys have a new-found confidence just in time for Bedlam.
“We’re really playing with a lot of enthusiasm and I think everybody is just feeding off of each other,” said OSU defensive coordinator Bill Young.

Wish Clint had been named the starter right off, we might be looking at an undefeated OSU team right now.
