Cowboys Salivating Over Good (Broadcaster) Karma

Perhaps Verne Lundquist, who is broadcasting NCAA Tournament games from Dayton, Ohio, for CBS, is Oklahoma State's good-luck charm.
Lundquist was the play-by-play guy in East Rutherford, N.J., in 1995 when Oklahoma State beat Massachusetts in an Elite Eight game.
The victory sent the Cowboys to a Final Four in Seattle and the phrase "Toothless in Seattle" caught on because forward Scott Pierce lost a cap on his tooth during Elite Eight combat.
Pierce, with a gap in his smile, was interviewed by Lundquist after the UMass game. Channel surfers might have caught a glimpse of Pierce and wondered if it was a "Hee Haw" rerun.
In 2005, Pierce was asked about his recollections of that night. He said he looked and felt ridiculous. He also said that he sent accidentally spit on Lundquist.
“I had forgotten how much your teeth keep you from spitting,” Pierce said.
“While I was doing the interview, I could see spit coming out of my mouth and landing on Verne Lundquist. It’s hard to do an interview when you are missing a tooth. It takes your IQ down at least 50 points when you are missing a front tooth.”
Will the Cowboys be willing to sacrifice a tooth or two, if necessary, in a second-round NCAA Tournament game Sunday against a physical Pitt squad?
You've heard of the phrase "moral of the story." This one could be about molar of the story.
