Dez Bryant leaves void on receptions, returns

One month after being pictured on the cover of Sports Illustrated, Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant has been ruled ineligible by the NCAA. The Cowboys are without its most prominent playmaker both in the passing game and on punt returns.

Bryant had played in three games this season, totaling 17 catches with four touchdowns. He had averaged 107.7 receiving yards per game and 19.0 per catch. Other OSU wide receivers currently have a combined total of 23 catches and four TDs. Their combined averages are 94.3 yards per game and 16.4 per catch.

At Texas A&M on Saturday, OSU's starting wide receivers are expected to be sophomore Hubert Anyiam, senior DeMarcus Conner and sophomore Josh Cooper. They have a combined career total of 21 receptions.

Bryant has returned three punts this season. He scored on an 82-yard return against Houston, boosting his average to 37.0 yards. Last season, he averaged 17.9 yards on punt returns. Against Texas A&M, Cooper is expected to return punts. On three returns this season, his average is 6.3 yards.

Following Thursday's practice, OSU coaches are expected to decide whether running back Kendall Hunter is able to play against the Aggies. Last season's Big 12 rushing leader, Hunter has missed two full games with an ankle-foot injury. It is believed that his participation in practice this week has been limited.

Perrish Cox will be just fine on kickoff and punt returns.
Cox is pretty, darn fast and just as talented a returner as Dez.

Now as far as a receiver, you can't replace Dez with one receiver. It's important that Zac use his legs and spread the ball around to other receivers to make up for the loss of Dez.

Dez will surely be missed, but he won't cost us any games IF the others step up.
And step up they will.

Let me tell you MY opinion about the Dez situation. it's something no one has addressed and it speaks of the character of this kid. He goes to Dallas and works out with Deion and Crabtree, no violation yet. He had dinner at Deion's house, still no violation. The thing that speaks of his character is the fact that he THOUGHT he was doing something wrong that he could get in trouble for, so he lied, there is the violation. But no one had addressed the fact that he believed his actions in Dallas were violations and could get him in trouble but he went anyway. That's the biggest problem I have and makes me believe that there was more talk than how to lower your 40 time at the combine. I'll bet my next paycheck Dez signs with Deion's agent
