After being injured in Oklahoma State's Holiday Bowl loss to Oregon, Cowboy All-American wide receiver Dez Bryant underwent left-knee surgery on Jan. 19.
Bryant refuses to wear a brace or protective sleeve on the knee and moves with no sign of a limp, but his participation in spring practice has been limited.
"It's really difficult to keep him out of my office, begging to play," OSU coach Mike Gundy said. "He wants to be involved. Next week, we're going to let him run some routes and catch the ball. Dez is very competitive. He does not like to watch."
Head athletic trainer Rob Hunt said Bryant sustained "a tear of a small ligament on the outside of the knee." It was not the anterior cruciate ligament, Hunt added.
A finalist for the 2008 Biletnikoff Award, Bryant closed his sophomore season with 87 receptions (second-best in school history behind Rashaun Woods' 107 in 2002), 1,480 yards (second-best behind Woods' 1,695 in 2002) and a school-record total of 19 touchdown catches.
