Did OSU Really Win?
Published: 9/10/2009 1:56 PM

That almost all of in-state sports talk radio is comprised of humorless know-it-alls is usually no big deal.

The only exception to the rampant incompetence is the morning Sports Animal show out of OKC. It is frequently funny.

Getting back to the majority of the junk on the radio, it is sometimes fun to listen in to untalented and uncreative material that can be so bad it's fascinating.

But the flipside to the professional hacks is that the negativism is catching, the listeners have taken to the tones of their hosts.

Oklahoma State just won the biggest game in its history as a glorious new stadium resonated with pride.

But guess what the callers and bozos are conversing about?

That the OSU quarterback isn't passing hard enough.

That he might be hurt.

That he isn't running the option enough.

That there is only one receiver being used.

People listen: Given the Spite and Hate Show in virtually
every radio market, has it become impossible to enjoy one of the greatest moments ever?

I agree.  Besides, a team does not show its whole playbook in the first game. Not plausable and not possible.  Have any of those arm chair quarterbacks ever played the game?  Probably not.

Zac is going to be fine. This happened last year, too. Doubters came out of their caves after the Wash St. game talking about all of Zac's faults. Then in the second half of the next game (coincidentally, the same team as the 2nd game this year), Zac and the rest of the offense found its rhythm and all worries were put to rest.

Look for more of the same against Houston again this year. Pokes win this game by at least 18.

The Sports Animal is nothing more than a bunch of OU homers spouting off about all things OU.

There's very little intelligent conversation -- because it's mostly a bunch of excuses and slams about the OU program.

Very little of the programing goes to talk about OSU football..and when they do talk OSU football, it's usually very quick slams on the program.

The Sports Animal is the worst sports talk radio in the nation.

Does anyone else find it ironic that the Picker writes a column blasting the local media for not covering Oklahoma State when 95% of the content of his blog entries is about OU?

Coach Young, you have a box or two in your office that you haven't un-packed yet.  You might want to hold off on that for a few days.

Twenty-one in the fourth . . . ouch!

Did OSU Really Lose? I love how every time OSU gets a new defensive coordinator, everything is going to be different this time. We're not going to be soft against the run anymore. We are going to have a shut down secondary. We finally have a brilliant defensive mind to be the savior. Well YET AGAIN it is the same song, different verse.

Ok, what is FSB? I always thought it was Front Side of Bus, or Federation of Small Businesses, Federal Savings Bank. Please do not give in to the NCAA on this new politically correct title of Div.1 Football. For one thing it isn't very politically correct. SUBdivision?

Doesnt the picker make a living on being funny but also being negative about EVERTHING? Talk about hypocritical...

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
