Don't Stop the Insanity

Two of the craziest football point spreads in college football memory have been dropped on state teams this week: OU is only a 5 or 6-point favorite over Nebraska. And Houston is only a couple or three-point favorite over Tulsa.

Nebraska has a terrific defense and is capable of bringing great harm to anybody trying to run too much, or trying to stay in the pocket too long. But Bubble Screen U. should pick the macho-type man defense to shreds. For Nebraska to score ten points, the OU defense would have to forget how to play pass defense. That happens a lot on the road. But the Nebraska quarterbacks are so wild-armed, it's hard to imagine the Cornhuskers scoring much except on special teams. Kick everything out of bounds, don't fumble, don't toss interceptions, only a coaching meltdown could doom OU.

Most observers are stunned because Houston is so lightly favored against TU. But who made Houston a good team? It is a good offense, sort of a Texas Tech Lite, dinks and doinks galore. But it has one of the worst defenses imaginable. Simple handoffs resemble trick plays. The thought on the low Houston number must be: If TU can play Boise close, it 100 percent positive can play Houston close.

Vegas wise men are not in the habit of putting out lousy numbers. They're in the habit of taking your money.

Still, OU and Houston would have to choke to lose.

Hey Picker:
Have you watched OU's o-line--these guys are horrible. The Sooners couldn't run against Idaho State, so forget it about against Nebraska's pro prospects. Sooner fans just better hope that Landry doesn't join Bradford on the sidelines.

"Having hit two multi-decade, multi-century locks before the frost is even on the pumpkin, here's another: Nebraska over OU.

Big time."

Huh, where'd I read that?

Picker I actually got Houston +1 1/2. This is one of those once a century deals almost worth flying to Vegas for today.

Who needs an offensive line to throw 25 bubble screens.

Nebraska has the worst offense in the history of the plains.

"Too easy," those are famous last words in Vegas.

The Houston defense is really bad.

Picker,
All you have to talk about is OU.

Realize you are in Tulsa.

No NBA, No OU, No OSU, and nothing at all.

You are a hack.

I guess Houston's defense was good enough the day they beat the Ags in Stillwater...

no ones looking, just tell everybody you won again this week.
