In the modern Internet era (2000 to now), Doug Martin is now among the titans.
His 251 yards and four touchdowns (51 fantasy points) in the 42-32 win over the Raiders puts him third overall in the most fantasy points scored in a game.
This list from ESPN's Tristan Cockcroft shows that Clinton Portis' five touchdowns and 218 yards in 2003 is still on top of the list. Second is Shaun Alexander, who went 139 yards and five touchdowns back in 2002. Michael Vick's 2010, week 10 performance puts him tied for fourth with Denver running back Mike Anderson.
Martin is that good. His line isn't, with two Pro Bowls lost to injured reserve. So he's scored seven touchdowns in the last three games behind a sub-par line, which is remarkable. He's on his way to be a top five running back in next year's fantasy drafts. He's that good. So is this offense.
Four other random facts from Sunday's games …
I don't get Detroit. One week the quarterback looks like he can't play the position. Another he back in the elite class. This week against the weak Jaguars, the running back gets three touchdowns. I give up. Trade everyone you have on this team.
The Bears defense is on another level. I actually saw it involved in a couple trades over the weekend. I don't think I've ever seen a defense involved in a trade before.
Russell Wilson was another guy I was high on going into this season. Sidney Rice was the cheapest No. 1 wide receiver in the draft. The Seahawks have a decent team around it's running attack. Grab Wilson if you are in need during this week 10 bye week. He gets the Jets.
Unfortunately, Robert Griffin III is one man. And he's on a team with no wide receivers who can get open. Santana Moss is too old and slow to get open. He has thrown only 8 passing touchdowns this season to go with his 6 rushing touchdowns. I can't believe the Redskins didn't trade for a receiver. Dwayne Bowe would have been perfect.
