Drive In the Clowns

Perhaps you saw the poor fellow crash into the wall at the Indy 500 for no particular reason at all, a few yards short of the finish.

As used car junk, his vehicle still had enough momentum to finish second.

The finish is destined to replace the French golfer and anybody else on the lists of those who couldn't handle pressure.

But the real story was the bozo who won.

He celebrated like he had done something great!

Real athletes know pure luck when they see it.

I see that you have never tried to control happy-feet.

And how many times have you driven a car at 220 MPH, with maximum adrenaline pumping in your veins?????

And I'm sure that you never made a mistake in your life...Right?????

And the guy who won, even if he only led for the last 200 yards, had spent the day driving at 220MPH to get to that position, while many others crashed or had problems that eliminated them from contention.

Can't agree with you Picker. :)

You obviously don't care for auto-racing, where coming in first is as much about luck as it is skill in placing yourself in winning position.

Maybe you're down about the Thunder -
who also had a wreck at the end of a couple.

I was at Indy the last time Wheldon won in 2005- he's always one of the best drivers on the track.

Wheldon had come in second the past two years, making this victory sweet, regardless of circumstances. To win Indy, no matter how it happens, is a great thrill. The Picker obviously hasn't followed auto racing or he would know that unusual things happen fairly regularly. That's one of the things that makes the sport so exciting and fascinating.

Early victory celebrations create life-long lessons/memories in every sport....

Like the Kevin Durant invisible championship belt pose against Dallas last week with 5 minutes to go & a 15 point lead....

:)

Walkonby, you may look lonely, but aren't.

The guy HIT A WALL FOR NO REASON! He hit THE LAST WALL BEFORE THE FINISH!

The guy RUNNING SECOND CELEBRATED!

Wheldon is so good, he had to go hitchhiking the night before to even get a ride!

Next thing some of you will say is these taxi drivers are athletes.

And another thing, this is such a great sport, you can make up ground during a time out!

Please.

It takes real physical talent to be a competitive race driver. It's a sport.

Watch a Formula One weigh in some time.....

LOL...Picker, don't ever give in. Thanks for making me laugh after a crappy day at the office. Good one!

Crashing is a risk throughout the race, just because the rookie blew it on the last lap doesn't mean Wheldon didn't win the race fair and square.

let off the accelerator goin' into the last turn.... run through the turn smoothly then hit the gas hard and YOU WIN........idiot. At that point I COULD HAVE WON THE INDY 500..easily. That guy got spooked like aggies always do.
Dr. Strangelove (last year)
traija50 you've obviously not been to a driving school, LOL

Turn 4 at Indy isn't like pulling into Quick Trip. You absolutely do not want to let off the gas.

Race much? lol

Go to Richard Petty Driving Experience....For a price you can actually drive a race car. It's called Rookie experience.

So you've just won the Indy 500 and you're not supposed to celebrate??

Was it luck that had Wheldon in 2nd and a place to overtake another driver who made an error?

As far as the crash, it wasn't like he just dozed off, he said he wen't a little high and got caught in the debris and lost control. He didn't forget how to drive with one turn left.
The Picker (last year)
The guy from the Honeymooners could have made the turn. Ralph.
