Where are the clowns who said there was no doubt OU was going to the Rat Pac Ten?

Where are the jokers who said it was a brilliant move?

What do you think of OU going begging pretty please let us back in the Big 12?

Why would anybody think another conference would want two or three more losses per year -- OU, OSU, Texas?

Where are the media experts who staked their reputations on the move by this weekend?

Why was our voice of reason one of the few heard?

All this did was make a lot of supposedly smart people look stupid....

Texas is the superior power, they can do what they no matter what, league folds noboby wants them, they go independant, they have their own network ala Notre Dame.... The conference stays together, Texas does as it pleases, if you don't like it, leave....

Obviously the SEC is too frightening & Okie schools can't compete, they've already decided it's 5th place or worse year after year....

I'm a state of OKLAHOMA fan but I'm saddened that the local school besides Tulsa are afraid of competition.... I say that about TULSA because they aren't afraid to schedule multiple potential Top 10 teams in one season.... They may lose, but at least they show up with what they got & they'll gladly return....

If only that basketball scheduler didn't duck ORU, I'd really be proud of them....

(1) Notre Dame doesn't have their own network.
(2) SEC is only interested in OU. They prefer to stick together and it's more academics than athletic competition they're against joining.
(3) TU is not competing against these teams for the sake of better competition. It's all about the payday. The only reason.

ORU scheduled tough this year in Basketball. They replaced the TU game with a road trip to Gonzaga. So TU Basketball went the wimpy route this year. But TU football scheduled great.

As a lifetime Sooner, I am sick of being in a conference dominated by Texas. If the Pac 12 doesn't want us (because of the Longhorn Network), let's look at the SEC or the Big 10!

Dominated by Texas?

Beat them on the field.

Period.

all this has done is made boren look like a fool. no way can he get the texans to back off on their own network with their own rules.

Talk about being stood up senior prom night.
Left at the alter.
Please let us back in the Big 12, pleeeeeeease.
Where are the apologizies from the media chumps for getting every single thing wrong?
Welcome to the Big 12, North Texas.

NYCSooner (last year)
And when has a "media chump", such as yourself, ever apologized for anything?

What was interesting in the Pac-12 statement was the comment that they are committed to maintaining "an equitable revenue system," meaning that it was the greed of Texas that prompted them to reject the four Big-12 teams. For once, I am grateful to the Longhorns! Speaking of the horns, they proved nothing at UCLA, which has already demonstrated that it belongs in C-USA.

Exile, take another look at Tex. You can't blame somebody for winning easily.
The runner is a number one draft pick, fast, tough.
McCoy is mobile.
Texas plus 10 points in the CBowl versus OU looks inviting.
Why not invite TCU to the Big 12 TODAY!
What a bunch of clowns running all elements of this fiasco.

Picker, to answer your question as to why you aren't being hailed as some sort of genius, perhaps it's because you really haven't offered anything probative, insightful or reasonable in this whole discussion.

All I've heard you suggest is: (i) we should go to the Big 10, and (ii) we shouldn't go to the Pac without Texas.

The former is silly and misinformed. Your loyal readers have shown you grace in not beating the crap out of you for that one. The latter is self-evident, hardly cutting-edge commentary, and cetainly not worthy of props. A child of four gets it, man; we need a "Texas connection" for recruiting.

Boren's plan never contemplated a move west without Texas (see my post to Sittler's article) and, all I can say in response to last night's announcement from the Pac is: (i) Scott got ahead of his members and made a commitment to Boren that he couldn't deliver, (ii) he baited and used Boren to leverage Texas and, when that failed, crawfished on his word, or (iii) Boren got concessions from the existing conference that he felt were a better option and allowed Scott the priviledge of the first presser.

I've engaged you twice to offer us your suggestion of a plan that is better than oSu, OU, UT and Taco going into the same pod in the Pac and all we've received in response is silence.

So put your journalistic reputation on the line and tell us all how it should be.

We value your opinion, and enjoy your humor, but, on this point, we're just a lil weary of your taking no position and just criticizing everything.
The Picker (last year)
Hire TCU tomorrow. Great school. Great fan base. Great everything.

Or OU should join the SEC the day after tomorrow.

What's the love affair between OU and OSU anyway?

Any more dumb questions?
soko (last year)
We now have your plan for OU, which is worthy of its own criticism.

What, pray tell, is your advice to the Pokes?
The Picker (last year)
Invite TCU.
Keep the conference together.
Pray.
soko (last year)
You've criticized the Pac move based on geography, but you'd rather OU travel to the right coast to play Carolina, Fla, Ga, etc, than you would jump on a $58 hour and a half Southwest flight to Phoenix?

Is playing only aTm enough of a "serious Texas connection" to preserve OU's recruiting, IYO?

But, back to your thoughts on oSu.
NYCSooner (last year)
Thank God that wiser men (in the PAC 12) prevailed! OU football needs to remain grounded in the Southwest and the Midlands. We would have been poorly served by being in a "pod" in the PAC 16 (Ugh!). Now go get TCU, BYU and Air Force or Cincinnati or West Virginia and bring back the conference championship game.

and FYI Mr. Picker, OU is not "begging" to be let back into the conference. OU never left.
soko (last year)
Pickens has been making Picker's TCU argument for weeks. I can only assume that either TCU ain't interested or we can't get the votes to receive them. It's just too easy a fix for it not to have already happened. Not saying it isn't reasonable; just that it apparently isn't gonna happen.

Which brings us back to the topic of the blog, in which Picker is seeking some sort of praise: Assuming no TCU, assuming we want to preserve Texas ties, assuming 9 ain't enough to keep the XII together, what was a better option than our state schools going Pac, along with the Horns and Taco?

Let's not assume that, because it didn't happen, that Boren hasn't put together something better in the XII.
DontHaveToGuess (last year)
Congrats and thanks Picker for being against that stupid Rat Pac Conference idea as you called it from the beginning. It would so nice if some modicum of common sense could prevail somewhere.
soko (last year)
Picker, would you seriously prefer OU in the SEC with only aTm to preserve what you have described as an essential "major Texas connection" or would you rather have OU in the Pac with Texas, oSu and Taco?

That's all I wanna know.
soko (last year)
I understand that it is an academic discussion; just wanna know your thoughts. To me, the geography issue is a wash; east coast vs. west coast. To me, the key is Texas. And with the Pac proposal that had all four of us going to the Pac, we traded aTm for Texas and picked up Taco, for whatever they are worth in terms of recruiting, rivalries, geography, etc.

Don't leave me hangin', Pick man

Soko...you solved the mystery! Pickens is the picker! Its so obvious now...I should have seen it years ago.

He's like Bruce Wayne...billionaire by day...savior to the idiots of the sports world by night.

IF Big 12 wants 2 expand
only hope is grabbing
some Big Least leftovers?

Private school TCU would be nice addition
But Big 12 already dominates D/FW market
TCU/Baylor have similar fan base

From a recruiting & TV market stand point
Houston seems the better “fit”

Even w/ an overhaul of the
NoBody wants us Big 12
How long before the next wave of
conference “inquires” for fellow
member schools starts again?

How will they resolve all those
Paranoia, insecurity, & trust issues?

LHN now off the negotiation table?

Big 12 “brave” enough to expand up to 16 schools?
Louisville, Cincinnati, W Virginia,
UCF, USF, TCU, & BYU?

OU, Mizzu, & ???? (OSU/KU/TTech) to SEC?

Isn’t there a few HUGE
college football games this weekend?
The Picker (last year)
Houston is a mid-minor, what does it seat, 8,000?
