ESPN working on film about Marcus Dupree

Time to catch up with our old friend Marcus Dupree.

Seems Dupree was back home in Philadelphia, Miss., recently watching his alma mater play a game against Neshoba Central.

According to the Neshoba Democrat, a weekly newspaper in Philadelphia, Dupree and an ESPN camera crew were filming a project for ESPN. In conjunction with its 30th anniversary, the network is putting together its top 30 stories of the past 30 years, and Dupree's recruitment from Philadelphia to Norman is on the list.

Dupree and the crew interviewed people in the stands who were a part of Dupree's life before Dupree signed with the Sooners in 1982.

The newspaper's account says ESPN is "retracing his steps in which author Willie Morris wrote a book entitled 'The Courting of Marcus Dupree.' "

Dupree told the newspaper, "I thought everything went well. We wrapped up filming Sunday and I'm back home in Shreveport. I'm not sure when we will be back (to Mississippi for more interviews) but I expect it will be in the next couple of weeks."

ESPN hasn't yet revealed a completion or air date.

I remember the bumper stickers that came out after the OU/Texas game when Marcus disappeared. They said "Marcus Dupree, phone home"

Marcus could have been one of the Greatest to ever play the game...

I think it was game against Missouri when he floated through the offense & defense lines & then shifted into a different gear for 75 yards with seemingly little effort....It was no one was ever within 10 yards of him when he glided into the endzone....
