Excuses Exposed

Here's a new bit for you to love: What It Really Means.

By now, you have probably heard (and heard and heard and read and heard and read) about OU's linebackers.

Woe is them, woe is us, this could be the reason the team doesn't live up to expectations!

Bull.

The linebacker who got hurt had never played a down. The linebacker who could be ineligible hadn't played many downs.

Buy a paper, people, injuries and unfortunate luck are big parts of the game. Other teams have lost TONS of players.

So what does it mean when something that happens to everybody else is mourned as a one-of-a-kind disaster?

It means homers are covering their backsides in case their beloved team isn't as good as they had hoped and prayed.

PS: You're in luck, the official Picks begin tomorrow.

...And it works the other way around, Pick! Having the "best" cornerback in the league doesn't in reality mean receptions will be curbed.

tatoo - it seems like you are the only that does not know who the Picker is

btw you complain about the Picker hiding behind a false name and calling the Picker to use a real name, what's your real name?

Tattoo's real name is Hootie.

Not this Hootie!

W.T.F. are you guys going on about?

Anyway, the picker is right...the linebacker thing is just an excuse getting warmed up in case they need it after losing somewhere down the line.

Tattoo = NIT Picker?

I've not seen any excuses by Stoops and company when they've lost to ANYONE, sans the Oregon catastrophe.

tattoo: One of these days, Picker, a so called "homer" is going to find out who you really are.
Then we will see how fast you can run, chump

This is real class, threatening a satyrical writer. That's like threatening Charlie McCarthy. The column is for entertainment and it is entertaining. Why on God's green earth would anyone get so upset about what is written here? is your life so devoid of any conflict you have to find it here with a columnist who has an edge? Like him or not, it's his column and like it or not he's more often right than wrong.

MexiMike,

You are correct. Tattoo is the famous, obsessive Nit Picker.

Roger, good point.

Tattoo, I love having you around. Please don't ever leave these blogs.

One day, I am sure we will be good friends. We just need to work out a few kinks first.

Lance, they're just slow, that's all.

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
