We here at The Picks have defended OU basketball fans for as long as we can remember.

Turn on any sports talk show, take two aspirin, and you're apt to hear about how lousy OU hoop fans are: not showing up for a game without turning in the tickets, leaving seats empty; watching the game quietly; leaving early.

Now we have questions. Look what the fans pulled versus Kansas. According to a report in our newspaper, OU fans gave Kelvin Sampson a standing ovation!

Polite applause, fine.

Appreciating the son, fine.

But this guy broke the rules and then dumped the program for Indiana.

Indiana used to be a much better hoop job than OU.

Now?

We'll see.

The Indiana offense of late looks like a scrum, Sampson's trademark at OU.

How can OU fans love this guy after he left the program in ruin?

What's next, a party at the Union for Bomar?

In this corner, Mr. Dave Sittler! In that corner, the TW Picker! Gentlemen, shake hands and come out writing!!

Picker, I'm with you. I'd also like to read your reaction to the non-suspension of Boggan for the head butt.

Heck, even in hockey that is considered across the line!!

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
