Feeling Lucky Punks?

Kellen Moore and Boise State are undefeated and are first in line to get cheated. TOM GILBERT/Tulsa World

Most years, the crooked BCS gets as lucky as possible, with teams losing late to surpress arguments for more football to determine a national champ.

This year, the biggest mess ever could result.

The SEC winner has an automatic berth in the finals. If the conference title game is close, calls for a rematch could ensue.

Here are the other contenders for highway robbery.

Boise State is undefeated and is first in line to get cheated, just because. Only cheap hustlers could assume losses: if you played so-and-so you'd lose. Lame argument to a nasty system.

Surprising Clemson, this year's Auburn, is next in line to be left out, again, for no good reason. Clemson has games at Georgia Tech and at South Carolina. Tech plays like Air Force and has no defense. The pass game has passed old Spurrier by.

How could anybody in his or her right mind keep undefeated Stanford or Wisconsin out of a national title game? True, Nebraska is a joke. But it was mutilated by Wisky, which has games at Michigan State and at Illinois, plus a playoff game probably with Michigan. Stanford is at USC, a disgrace on defense, has Oregon at home, another defensive slob, and hosts Notre Dame in the season-ender. The bums in charge will try to appease Stanford and Wisky with Rose Bowl glitter.

The Big 12 will have a major contender from OU, OSU or Texas.

Six or seven deserving teams for two spots.

Sound fair?

In other football news, the Dallas coach should have his head examined. Everybody knows Tony Turnover has a noodle arm and chokes. So why call pass plays? Leading 27-3, Dallas could have punted on all remaining first downs and won by double figures. Head coaches calling plays is dumb. The Cowboy coach dialed up this idiotic loss.

Sam Bradford and Adrian Peterson probably wish they were anyplace else. They have zero wins between them. In the new nutso offense from the Denver hack, Bradford is playing slow as molasses and could set a world record for sacks. If he survives. The Minnie quarterback has been McNabbed.

Who cares about the polls. Be quiet and win the games. There's no doubt the SEC pair are the top two. OU is a little fortunate to still be ahead of Wisky.

There are three NFL teams of quality, Green Bay, New Orleans and New England, in that order.

TU probably made no fans among the wagering public who put down legal investments in Vegas. True, no team plays for degenerate gamblers. But again too, sluffing off huge leads at home with defensive blunders galore will not gain favor with those who bet the medicine and college education monies on TU minus the points.

Maybe Garrett will hire the aTm coach as his new OC in that they appear to have similar philosphies about how to manage a game up three scores.

Speak for yourself Pick, TU has paid off nicely for me the last couple of weeks: 13.5 to osu was easiest $ ive ever made, tulane may be the worst team in the country, and the UNT-TU line was a joke: 3 for 3 bettin with the canes this year!!
The Picker (last year)
dcood: Somebody said the games were harder to pick before they were played. TU did NOT cover this week. Who you betting with, Fido? Rover? Spot?

Blue&Gold (last year)
I think he was saying he picked UNT + the points. TU had the game covered easily until the starters sat from the start of the 4th quarter. That is what drives Vegas bettors crazy.

Polls mean nothing right now. It is a by-product of what have you done for me lately. In the instances of OU (Ball St) and OSU (bye) the answer is nothing. Wisconsin got a slap on the back for a job well done (although nothing is a better answer). LSU didn't do much, but that defense (and #7 Tyrann Mathieu) are amazing. Speaking of Mathieu, why is no one bringing him up for Heisman. It is supposed to go to the best player (or most dominant) player in the country, and Mathieu is easily that.

BG, oh, so he knew TU would lead 41-3 and then play the cheerleaders?

People who say what they had after it's over usually couldn't pick the replay.

Six teams for one BCS spot: Big 12, Stanford, Wisky, Clemson, Boise, SEC runnerup (if it's close or lucky), what could be messier.

This past week, I picked North Texas, Texas, Wisconsin and the Kansas City Chiefs. I have the email to prove it.
However, you are correct on the BCS. Back to the Bowls and Polls after games have been played.

Anybody who picked North Texas should donate 85 percent of those winnings to a higher power.

There could be up to 7 undefeated teams
at the end of the regular season

Clemson @ G Tech 10/29 will cost
one undefeated team a win

Big 10 Michigan & da’ Badgers don’t meet
Illinois plays them both @ home in Nov

Big 12 will sort itself out
OU gets by Texas, they could B 11-0
B4 da’ Big Ending Season game in Stoolwater

Favorable Home Schedule gives Stanford
an excellent chance to run the table

I’m expecting Houston to be 11-0
when they trek up to T-town
the day after Turkey Day

As was predicted, Boise St’s schedule is so “lame”
they’re dropping in the polls because of it.

Funny, how the LSU/Bama winner
could still end up w/ one loss
& make the BCS nat’l champ game

Its “possible” we could see up to 7 teams
finish their regular season undefeated.

There have been several years
2 teams have finished the season undefeated,
but rarely more than that.

2004, three teams finished the season undefeated
Utah, USC, & Auburn

Before 2004?
1973, when Notre Dame, Penn St., & Miami(OH) did it

OU was undefeated with a 7-7 tie with USC.

Junie picked North Texas. Junie has a SYSTEM. Woof!

It would be nice if we could get the winners of the top 4 BCS Bowl games to play in a semifinal, with the winners moving on to the championship game. It would be better than the current system that we have right now.

Despite the fact that my college picks were awful (yes, I'm the IDIOT who picked Iowa State) I feel vindicated by the weekend results. Why? Because I had the good sense to turn off the Cowgirls at halftime. I just had a gut feeling that Tony Romeo would find a way to blow the lead. Even I was stunned, however, at how quickly that clown threw the game. Forget Garrett calling the plays. He's playing the wrong personnel. Kitna is a demonstrably better QB. (But then again, Coach Jerry is still pulling the strings. I'm sure he viewed this as another stellar performance by his over-paid mimbo.)

Tony was so bad that I actually began to wonder if he was intentionally giving the game to the Lions. Maybe the NFL should check if he has got some gambling debts to settle.

Tulsa stung me bad too pick.... but Texas will not be in the mix after Saturday. I don't care about their "athletes." That rinky dink, trickster offense won't get by big, bad Bob ever again.... unless we have injuries in the secondary I don't know about. A couple of those boys (Jamelle Fleming) got their bells rung pretty good and I can't find anything about their condition.
Soonertrain (last year)
P.S. didn't say we'd cover Texas.
dcood (last year)
I just took the points, like most people who bet, I guess the key being I took the RIGHT side of the line...OSU -13.5 @ TU are you kidding me, took OSU, easy $, TU -whatever vs Tulane, easy $$, TU -22 over UNT, not as easy but the proof is in the payout, right Pick. It's not like takin the dog vs TU is like betting against Alabama...it's still Tulsa. Youre not the only guy who does a little research and knows something about teams besides OU or OSU... and all things being =, I wont be donating my winnings from the UNT game to a 'higher power'.
dcood (last year)
And btw Pick, with the exception of OU, when most teams get ahead 41-3, they play the other kids on the team who have been bustin their tails just as much as the starting kids...it's called sportsmanship. Stoops still hasnt gotten the memo.
tulsandn (last year)
A win is a win is a win, unless your trying to position yourself favorably in the BCS swagbag derby....

I thought about last weeks picks that I crashed & burned with & now this week there was no thinking, just picking with the tossups being decided by favorite uniform colors.... That should be an improvemnet over last week....

I thought that the Wisc/Neb was gonna be a GREAT throwback style of game THEN Wisconsin did what Nebraska used to do, RUN OVER & pummel their opponent to nothing.... Wisconsin is very LARGE & POWERFUL, no finesse pretty boys posing on their side of the field....

Stanford posing, LSU lacking, Bama' for real, OU pretty good, Okie St D' in question, too bad too sad for Boise....

OU 52 Bevo 17

dcood -- the true definition of sportsmanship is taking care of the alums who bet on your team.

I stand corrected...call me old school.
Goffer (last year)
Oh great one, how will the Sooner line perform this weekend without Habern? They did fine last weekend, but it was Ball St..
The Picker (last year)
OU fans have long wished for revenge for the Boise State fiasco.

Here's their chance.

Texas is Boise. Mack has obviously lost it and has handed over the tasks to freaky coordinators.
The Texas defense looks like a game of musical chairs, with 11 guys hopping up and down and dancing around before most snaps. The offense features passes off wildcat formations, and other Boise junk.

This time, OU will be paying attention.

Texas plays that macho man to man stuff in the secondary. If Jones is in the right mood, he should torch them.

The pointspread of nine sounds light.
MexiMike (last year)
Boise State will not be cheated; they will be served consequences for a terrible schedule highlighted by a downtrodden Georgia team. TC-Who?

Clemson will lose at least one game. Don't ask me which one but they will. Why? Because they are Clemson.

Stanford should be kept out of it. Tell me of another good team in the PAC other than Oregon. Maybe Arizona State? Who else have they played?

Wisconsin may actually get screwed. With that said, they still haven't played a team that can compete offensively. And they probably won't until Michigan. But even then, Michigan is the Big 10's version of Baylor. That isn't saying much for the Badgers' competition.

In my opinion, an undefeated Big 12 team goes to the MNC over any of these teams. And for good reason.

Also, come on, Pick. The Patriots are the third best team in the NFL? Talk about a defense that couldn't stop tricycle traffic. Buffalo sends you their regards.
D.Wade (last year)
And only a worse hustler could assume WINS. Boise whether fair or not will not have earned a shot at title. The Georgia win for them is looking worse and worse. It is what it is. You are starting to recycle the same blog Pick, just changing the names of the innocent.
