Fifteen Percent Chance of Thunder
Published:

Remember how the OKC media "experts" theorized that the Thunder had a high seed in the bag and just might contest the Lakers before settling for second? (The quote marks around experts in this instance standing for the Hee Haw radio, TV and print outlets down the pike.)
Remember how we said in a blog that it didn't appear that the Thunder had improved much?
Remember how we wondered how well OKC could shoot the ball? (The fifteen percent in the blog headline here standing for what the Thunder is shooting from three-point land.)
Remember how we suggested that everybody stay calm and not get carried away about title talk after the wonderful sneak attack season one year ago?
Stay tuned.

Remember how long the NBA season is? Perhaps you should take some of your own advice, "stay calm", and realize that just because they're off to a poor start doesn't necessarily mean they're in for a poor season. That being said the "title talk" that you speak of, if it even existed (not sure who you're referring to that was predicting titles), was grossly misguided. Lastly I will point out that I have heard and read people that cover the NBA for ESPN (not people "down the pike") predict the Thunder would finish as high as 2nd in the West this season.

Mr. Picker,
It hasn't just been the local media that has been hyping up the Thunder. Some members of the national media have been doing so as well. The poor shooting and lack of an inside game are major concerns. The Thunder front office needs to continue to improve the team by adding good 3-point shooters and post players that can score. Otherwise, they won't improve.

Don Henley's "Dirty Laundry" comes to mind while reading this stuff. But then, who really cares?

Wake me in June when "it" matters.
There, I said it again and I'll say it three times if I have to...:)

I can't recall any title talk as well. Of course, not like I follow off season Basketball, I am still basking in glow of another Lakers title. But this is the NBA isn't it? Don't they take everyone in the playoffs? What they have two wins? Twenty more and their in right?

NBA talk in Tulsa ????
Why ????
It's not like you all have a team or ever will....
What basketball expertise is learned there, the WNBA, NBDL, Conf. USA, Mid-American Atlantic Pacific Coastal Conference of the Midwest....

I guess I would defer to Kobe Bryant over the all-knowing Picker as a reference to the Thunder and what kind of team they are. As far as challenging the Lakers, maybe people are saying that because that is exactly what the Thunder did in the playoffs last year. One blockout away from a game 7. But that had to be a fluke... You dont sneak up on anybody when you play 82 games. The continued rants about the Thunder, since they have been in OKC, reak of jealousy. What is the negative of the Thunder? The humble young star, the great hustle they exude, the coach of the year who just coaches and never even looks at an official, the great fans that fill it for every game? Im still searching. And BTW, probably not a sin if the Thunder, whose average age is 24, dont win an NBA title this year.

By the way the horribly overrated Thunder came from 10+ points down to win AT Portland last night. Not many teams are going to go in there and win this year.

Snooze...Another picker column, another shot at the Thunder and OKC media. If they're Hee Haw, what does that make you? Reruns of the Carol Burnett Show?

This is the classic example of "haters gonna hate"

If you haven't been to a Thunder game, you have missed a great show. The team is young and exciting. Durant, Westbrook, and Green are stars. They are surrounded by very good players. Their current record of 3-2 has been accomplished even with cold shooting performances by Durant. He will warm up and the .600 winning percentage will improve. The Picker sounds like he's eaten-up with the Tulsa/OKC rivalry bug.

Remember when you said anyone in the local media picking Texas to beat Nebraska was an idiot?
dcood

Orange: Picker is no different than the people he criticizes: i was one of those who picked UT to beat NU. After it happened, Picker was like "If i'd known Neb was gonna drop 3 tds, I might not have picked Nebraska..." blah blah. If we knew anything like that, bookies nor Vegas would exist... I think they call that a 'hypocrite'.
